2" lift. 1/2" on top of strut and 1/2" between spring and strut 33" tires 16" wheels with 11cm backspace Tow bar Truck bed auxiliary light Truck bed rhino roof racks
I just lifted my 2008 double cab 2" to fit 35" tires
In front I installed 1/2" strut extension on top of the strut and 1/2" between the coil and strut so together it makes 1" extension of the total strut which equals 2" lift.
My question is: Do I have to extend the bumper stoppers or does the shock allow more compression since the strut has now dropped 1/2"?
I have original shocks by the way.

I would appreciate if someone could give me some advice on this :)

So you did a 2" spacer lift, mounted 35" tires, and you're worried about shock compression?

I'd be much more worried about the fact that your tire is going to the tear the shit out of itself as it rubs against your wheel wells, fender flairs, and the cab mount under the truck. Unless of course you've already modified those areas (trimmed) to allow it to fit!

I see you're in Iceland? Do you have a Tacoma or a Hilux?

Hi Kytty and thanks for the reply
I already did my trimming and cut the cab mount accordingly. Planning to put new fender flares later when I have the $
Still the question is still not answered if I will bend my shocks during full compression. I´m going for a trip to the highlands of Iceland next weekend and there will be some excessive snow driving and I don´t want to risk bending a shock

    ps. I have a Tacoma

If I understand correctly, you have a top plate spacer and a spacer to preload the coil. On stock struts? I actually think you might be okay. It should ride okay until the seal pops, then it'll ride like a rocking horse. Then you can do it all over again, but correctly. The stock shocks aren't valved for what you're doing to them. The suspension geometry should be within tolerable range though.

    Welcome to TW!!!!

    And subbed for Icelandic shenanigans!!

Pretty sure any thing that goes on top of the coilovers must be added to the bumpstops as well to keep from bottoming out your shock travel and collapsing your shock. If you have 1/2" on top, need 1/2" added to bumpstops

What he said ^ about spacers on the bumpstops, 1/2". You could do this to the stock units.

    Better would be with .

    Thanks guys for the feedback

I´ll think I will stay on the safe side and ad some 1/2" spacers to the bumper stops.
Maybe I can remove later them if I upgrade the shocks to FOX as I did at the rear

I think I can state that back here in the north they don´t get much cooler than that:)

I got engaged in Iceland last
March. Awesome scenery and a lot of cool off-road rigs everywhere.
