taco's are so common here, unless you know us pretty well, those that you wave at are total strangers thinking your either trying to lure them into an abandon warehouse or wanna give out free candy :spy:

Sorry to mud up the thread, but I'm also looking for a couple boogie boards, paddles boards, or a beginners surfboard. Not sure what's good or not nor where to go to have a good time.

Additionally, I'm chalked full of freshwater fishing poles and tackle. What's a good rod/reel combo and tackle kit to get in order to fish around here. Not looking to real in a swordfish, just looking to drink some beer and catch some fish.

    Fishing...not my area of expertise

Surfing on the other hand......so my idea of a good time will not be what I will be telling you, well because I want you to live...so really if you think you will go in the water more than once, I say run to Costco and grab a softtop board or grab some bodyboards from the NEX or alike (really no need to dump a bunch of money on something you may not like) you could always rent stuff to try out first to. Most surf shops do board rentals in the softtop or regular variety. If you are taking the whole family and wanting to go beach and get everyone in the water, Bellows...hands down, no reef and little wind swell breaking close to the beach to body surf or board on till your stomach is full of rash! Just don't go after a full moon (jelly fish....OUCH) even heading up to the north shore to Ali'i beach park (Haleiwa) is a fun little shore break for the kids. As for braving the real stuff.....when the wave breaks here.....don't be there...or you gonna get drilled (sorry had to....North Shore...the movie) most peeps "learning" tend to venture to Barbers point....experienced guys/girls surf there as well so don't stone me if your reading this.....but really anything you need to know a few of us on here like the water. And I'm sure Chad @polekasta can chime in on fishing

I've been boogie boarding since I was a kid but never surfing. Would love to try it out and learn. I'll check those places out. Thanks !
