If I remember I will get one tonight but the magnetic base has opening for antenna that is held in by a set screw. Mine easily came loose until I lost the set screw but luckily not the antenna on one trip.

For those of you contemplating a Baufeng HT that haven't already bought one. I have a UV-82HP with an NA771 whip that I bought a while ago when I was toying with Baufengs that I no longer have a use for. The UV-82HP has a louder speaker than the BF-F8HP but is 1W less power. UV-82HP (7W/4W/1W), BF-F8HP (8W/4W/1W). Otherwise it's basically the same radio. Has the one annoyance of no VFO/MR button. You change from memory mode to frequency mode by pressing one the buttons on the side of the radio and turning it off and on again. Isn't that big of a deal if you are always in memory mode, but if you want to bounce between the two it gets tedious.

    HT: https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-UV-8...TF8&qid=1483543660&sr=8-2&keywords=baofeng+82
    Antenna: https://www.amazon.com/Authentic-NA..._rd_wg=oGVKO&refRID=7QN846Y2K58PZV92J47G&th=1

Anyway, free to a good home. You'll just need to buy a programming cable.

You must be using a different mag mount than the rest of us.
The Tram mag mounts that I have, have no set screw. The antenna is threaded and screws into the base.

    What haven’t I changed?
Did you get the Kenwood 710G? Are you using an external speaker with it or just the one in the base unit?

    Never enough
The only ones I seem to consistently get right are the ones related to simple electric components and theory like ohms law, transistors, etc. For those of you who have passed, how do you keep all the acronyms and frequencies straight?

Like someone said, the right practice test will have the questions verbatim.
I wouldn't say I learned anything so much as temporarily memorized.

I should go online and take a practice test right now and see if I could still pass :D

I've been studying the flashcards, up to 18% aptitude now, which is the dumb as fuck level. So I'm progressing well.

You're probably right. I just went by what the app said. Not too shabby regardless.

I definitely need to study. I'm pretty sure it's the regulatory stuff that jammed me up.

Are you using an app? I'm using the Amateur Radio Exam Prep app for the Technician license.
