My local classified ads have had several listings for 2017 Tacoma front and rear shocks for VERY cheap and I am in need of new shocks for my 1999 Tacoma, question is, will 2017 work on 1999 Tacoma. I'm a pretty experienced mechanic but I cannot find any definitive info on this topic.

They're cheap for a reason... IMO, don't go there. Even if they did fit, (which I'm betting they won't, at least in the rear since the suspension designs are different), shocks that cheap and you might as well go to Auto Zone and buy their no name "brand" shocks for $10.

Rockauto.com has shocks for your 99 starting at around $15 a piece. Cheap enough for you?

Personally, just get some KYBs, or if you want the same quality (or better) that came on your TRD, get Bilsteins.

The shocks are from a TRD Tacoma so they are Bilstein already.

Pretty sure the front struts have different upper mounts and the rear shocks are different lengths.

Completely Stock except for Ranch 5000 Shocks and Struts.
I have to say I agree with the other members here. They definitely will not fit. It is not even worth your time to even attempt it. Your 1999 Tacoma is a 21 year old design, and a 2017 is a two or three year old design. They're not even close to having interchangeable parts. Look at the KYBs and the Ranchos when they go on sale.

    Good Luck,
    Paul

You may be able to use the rears if the lengths are close, and they are eye-to-eye. But not those fronts.

    Fronts will not fit.
Rear shocks are eye to stem, you need eye to eye. Rear will not fit either.
