So I have a Pelfreybilt bumper that is Line-X'd with the Premium stuff and noticed that pressure causes the Line-X to fail. Specifically, the nuts used to attach the bumper to the frame have started to sink into the Line-X, causing the coating to peel up.

Has anyone else experienced any Line-X failures like this? Is this covered under warranty? Thoughts?

How long did you wait after Line-X'ing to install?

I had a 4runner gas tank skid that I line-X'ed and the same thing happened because I didn't wait a few days for it to completely harden

The bumper sat in my garage for a week before I installed it. I was told that there is no cure time since it flashes immediately after being sprayed.

Should I complain and try to get the bumper resprayed?

That's interesting man. I know Line-X hardens fairly quick to the touch but I was always told never to put anything heavy on it for a few days (when I had my Chevy bed sprayed) as it is still not quite fully hardened if that makes sense.

I got antsy with that gas tank skid and immediately put it on when I got home from having it sprayed and all the hardware sunk into the Line-X.

If you waited that long before install I would at least go ask them about it and see what's up. That stuff should be hard as a rock after a week. I was always told they could do touch ups as well but never went in for any. Maybe that's all it requires.

Do you think it could be the premium coating? If pick at the line x with my first fingernail, it feels kind of squishy. Definitely not rough or hard like the Rust-Oleum bed liner.

Of course. They told me it's normal and made it seem like it was not covered under warranty. I had the sections near the light cutout peel up when installing my light bar and they just "epoxied" the peeling pieces back down. Not resprayed.

That doesn't seem right either.. have you contacted the manufacturer? I'd probably be inclined to email them with pictures and ask if that's normal for their product and see if they reply.

To me it shouldn't matter what level of coating they put on there. My regular coating on my skid plate and truck bed felt squishy after bringing them home hence why they told me to not set anything heavy on it for a few days.

So my truck bed was covered under warranty obviously but when I had the skid done and my bed rails on my tacoma done they said they couldn't warranty those parts. I said I understood and had it done. The epoxy part doesn't make sense to me but then again I'm not a Line-X dealer or installer. If you are having trouble with the place you went to call another location and explain your situation and see what they say. That would be my course of action.
