A while back I was tasked with helping modify an OEM fog light switch for a 2013 Tacoma.

    We started with this switch:

The desire was to have a way of knowing when the switch was depressed. I started by changing the standard back light color to green to match the Tacoma's factory back light color and then have the switch change to amber when pressed and the lights were on (the lights were wired to only come on when the high beams were engaged and switch was depressed).

First thing I wanted to do was determine the connector because Toyota wanted a lot of money for the pigtail. I found it and got 2 of them as free samples. The connector is by TE Connectivity and the part numbers are Housing: 1473672-2 and Sockets: 1801069-2

Next was to figure out how to get the color change to work. I took the switch apart and examined the board.

There was no way to easily get this board to do what we wanted (change color when pressed). So this lead me to laying out a new board that could replace the original one inside the switch.

Once I got the board assembled and put back into the switch housing I tested it out and this is the end result before being installed into the truck.

I don't have any pictures or videos of the switch installed as it got shipped to the owner to install but I am sure he will provide some if anyone wants to see it in the truck.

Let me know if you have questions.
