Many people run Camburgs. Generally liked here.

    Well Camburg isn't perfect either:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-and-adventures.362772/page-165#post-13958471

If you want poly bushings then definitely skip JBA for now. As the quoted link shows the poly bushings are not ready for prime time at all. The JBA arms typically come with OEM rubber bushings and those are fine.

If you go JBA go KISS and get the OEM bushings and the commonly available (and replaceable) BJ rather then JBAs proprietary one. The main issue you'll have with JBA is things always seem to be in development and you don't want to be the one doing customer side product development given how much of a pain UCA install is. Just ask @Crom, he had the original JBAs on and off his truck I don't know how many times. At the end of it JBA had a solid project but it sucked down all of his time and he eventually went Camburg. So stick with the most basic JBA configuration if you go that route.

Camburg a more stable product with larger install base, but it isn't perfect and they aren't interested in changing it either.

EDIT: Reading around it isn't clear if you have to add on the JBA poly bushings (which you don't want right now) or if he is now shipping all UCAs with the effed up bushings. Hmmm....

Nobody is perfect 100% of the time but that would steer me clear of JBA, specifically.

Food for thought for anybody else.

I'd say if you can't get the JBA with OEM bushings and a standard ball joint like he used to ship them with then definitely just give it a skip entirely and go with a more established solution. To me the whole point to the JBA was that the only thing manufactured by JBA was the arm itself and the other parts were proven and easy to source. If that's no longer available I'd give the whole thing a pass - especially with the track record of new development debugging falling on the end users.

I really like the design of the JBA arms with the Moog K6292 ball joint. That joint is very beefy. It looks like JBA has a new BJ in his arms, same model number, but stainless now? Looks better IMO.

I like that JBA had the stock Toyota rubber bushings in his arms. They are maintenance free and work well. For the majority of people looking to lift their rigs, his application seems perfect. There is a slight gotcha wit his design though. The plate that locates the UBJ in the arm sticks out some, and this can cause you an issue if you run tall and skinny 33"tires, you'll need 4.5" backspacing on a wheel, or have to run a spacer.

The JBA will serve you better if you are lifting higher than 2.5", IMO.

EDIT: I'm not sure I understand what JBA is doing with his new BJ. Is it rebuildable? or just replace when worn?

The advantage of the bolt in ball joint is easy to replace when worn with 4 bolts.

I have the Camburg arms now, and they are built very well, fit and finish are outstanding. Documentation that shipped with them on assembly, installation and maintenance was excellent.

They are good for lifts not higher than 2.5".

Camburg uses a Moog K80811 Ball Joint that's been pressed into the arm. I like the joint, strong enough, and greasable. What I don't like is the Moog dust boot. IMO, it's too tall and maybe a bit too soft. I've had one rip and I had to replace it. Moog will ship you new dust boots for free if you call them and complain.

The Camburgs use a greaseable non-binding poly bushing which I like. There is additional maintenance with them though.

The BJ on the camburgs are pressed in, and they are harder to replace when worn, IMO. I liked JBA's bolt in design a lot better.

From what I have been told by someone in the biz, Moog may use different suppliers for the boots. And the characteristics between suppliers allows for variation. Some boots are thick, others thin, soft, hard, etc. Which may be why some customers have no probs and others have had issues.

I don't know how long you you have had your Camburg BJ UCA's for, but earlier designs reused the stock Toyota ball joint. Later they started shipping with the Moog pressed in.

But yeah definitely inspect them. :)

For UCA purposes, that should equate to a 0 lift amount - so they should be perfect.

cool so I don't need to go uniball. I like that I can replace a ball joint much less often then a uniball

Ball joint style... SPC for sure.

JBA has had their issues, and camburgs ball joints have a shitty range of motion. SPC arms you get more adjustability, and ball joints that flex way more than any uniball. (83* vs 60-70* of a typically uniball with misalignment spacers)

You would need longer control arms, so yes, different arms.

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
Reviving this. Anyone know if JBA has fixed their issues? It's been a couple years now. Looking at options and I'm curious if anyone can recommend them now? Or if it's still the same story.
