Does anybody else know the part number for the shield/seal that gets installed onto the part of the cv axle closest to the differential? Are they them same part for both sides?

    Welcome!

When I pulled my CV, I tried slide hammer, no dice.
I tried prybar and got some progress, but could not get it out.
Then I tried cable choker and it worked great!

    I found #3 for you.

    #1 OEM Part # 90316-A0001 or National Timken Part # 710573.
    #2 OEM Part # 90304-A0001
    #3 OEM Part # 41336-04010
#4 # 90311-47027 for the Driver Side, Part # 90311-47026 for the Passenger Side, and these two seals are set in the differential.

Nice! Preciate it man. Looks like that's a Toyota only part, couldn't find it on any parts stores sites. Hoping I can re-use my old ones....for the record, I did see them on Amazon for pretty cheap

Not sure if this was answered before, how much diff fluid was needed to be replaced to top off when replacing the CV axle?

I would recommend draining the front diff if you're going to do this, but its roughly 1.5 quarts. Give or take a little.

Prybar works usually. Also Southeast Overland has a loop of synthetic winch line that you can attach to CV and use a sledge as a psuedo slide hammer. Supposedly works well with IFS skid in place.

I knock mine out with a pry bar in the notch and a 4 lb sledge. When you stop by, I'll show you what I mean.

I also have a slide hammer of you need to borrow it.

    Ok. I'll swing-by in a little bit.
I'm going to Autozone for rear brake shoes. Do I need any special grease for the cv's? Also stopping by McD's to steal some coffee stirrers.

How long the original bearing last before it needs to be replaced?

So here is my question, I don't have a press and I will be doing this work without a second vehicle to go to a shop to press the old bearing out and the new bearing in. So if I were to buy the whole bearing hub assembly I should be able to just remove the old and put the new on without anything special right...?

Are there better aftermarket versions than OEM?

    Thanks!

    Everything
Correct. You can swap out the wheel bearing assemble with simple hand tools.

    These assemblies are great.

I just now saw this but when I did my bearings I used Blue Pit Bearings They come pre-assembled. They are the ones that did one of the install How-To videos that was posted a few pages back.
