Hi, I've been following tacomaworld for some time now and glad to finally be a member. I have a 2016 Tacoma with a 3" ProComp Nitro Lift, 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers, and XD Hoss 17x9 wheels. Everything looks great but running into a vibration problem I'll be posting about on another thread. Looking forward to posting and hearing from other members!

 

Hi Scottalot, I have a 4x4. Sounds like the notorious left side needle bearing I've read so much about. It's a very low rumble strip type of vibration between 20-30 mph that goes away when 4wd is engaged.

I do have a few concerns though. I'm currently working with a pretty good service manager and waiting for him to contact Toyota engineers Jan. 3rd. We found the TSB issued for toyotas up to year 2015 that covers this needle bearing swap and obviously they are aware of the problem. We are seeing if they will extend that TSB to 2016. I'm a little nervous about using the ECGS bushing since it is so new, I don't want to cause anymore problems down the road. Have you heard of anyone with 2015 or older having the Toyota needle bearing swap covered under the TSB? I'm curious if the new part fixes the issue or if it's the same exact bearing and the issue will return.

If this is in fact the needle bearing, would it stop vibrating once warmed up? Today was a mild 50 degrees and the vibration went away once it had some heat in it. Once the truck cools down the vibration is back.

I just ordered an 8" clamshell bushing from ECGS. Order was processed and shipped within 1 hour! Hoping to have it installed next week and will post results once complete.
