I know Fred Beans himself and he is a nice enough guy, but I'd never buy a vehicle from any of his dealers. His dealers are notorious for not wanting to negotiate on the price of any vehicle, especially 4x4s and sports cars.

yes a very nice guy true he called me personally about how his service was at the Toyota dealer Flemington, and told him the truth on the warranty issue and not telling the exact truth on some other things and I wont deal with them no more.

Everything starts making sense now, way below market price plus Service Manager Wife SUV? plus dealer service manager ? that might be good or bad, your case seems bad, this guy is hooked up with shop and dealer , he knows all the ways around, off course he will get a hell of a job done on the body, most likely OEM parts and whole body paint, hard to spot.
Best of luck to you my friend.

Plenty of repairs don't show up in the books. So dealers don't entirely rely on Carfax, etc. Dealers are the best in the business for spotting repairs and repaints. Your friend should have gone to another dealer.

my brother traded his car in for a newer year model after being involved in an accident. The accident took a WHILE to show up on the carfax. Someone likely bought it before the carfax reflected this.

I was involved in three accidents in my Tacoma in 2015 that were reported to the insurance company. TWO OF THOSE THREE accidents were not my fault by the way. Anyway, of those three accidents, only the October 28 drunk driving incident ended up in the CARFAX report.

    My accidents in 2015:

Rear-ended by 2006 Toyota Highlander in March 2015 ($1,200 in damage; not my fault)

Rear-ended 2014 Mustang in August 2015 ($1,500 in damage; my fault)

Hit by drunk in 2002 Mercedes in October 2015 ($2,600 in damage; not my fault; only accident on my truck's CARFAX)

    It do
CARFAX report says it was in the right side by another motor vehicle, and that the airbags deployed. This would indicate that the Murano was T-boned by a red light/stop side runner or sideswiped at a high rate of speed (turnpike maybe?). It was on it's way to becoming a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned), but my parents got a better deal on by buying it as just a regular used vehicle.

What I don't get is why the accident shows up 23 days AFTER my parents bought the Murano...

Have your insurance company look up the insurance database for the vehicle. I can't remember the name of it but there is common database that has all insurance claims on it.
Autocheck is ok but not perfect. Carfax is garbage.

If they did a good job and it runs well is what counts. I'm thinking they did good.

Our Dept. has a contract with Toyota. I was able to get a 2017 Tacoma but i passed on it. Lots of roomier choices on the list to choose from. If going off road was part of my job I would consider one.

I've had my truck since new, and it has almost 70,000 miles on it as of this posting. As per manufacturer recommendations, I've been getting the oil changed every 5,000 miles and I've been using semi-synthetic (also recommended by owner's manual).

I've gotten the oil changed primarily at Thompson Toyota and my dad's mechanic, occasionally getting it done at a place called Auto Express and one time at a Munro Muffler place where my friend used to work.

I have been pondering switching to full synthetic, but let me say this... Even if I were to use long-life 7,000-10,000+ full synthetic oil, I would never change it at longer intervals than 5,000 miles. I've heard horror stories and talked to mechanics. I believe that there is nothing better for an internal combustion engine than changing the oil every 3,000-5,000 miles.

Should I switch to full synthetic or just run semi-synthetic?
