Just saw this thread. Would like to clear up some points previously discussed. Our 2016 Tacoma slimline weighs in at a scant 55lbs, which may be the lightest of all of them. Our shackle mounts are serious 3/4" thick plate steel welded through directly to the winch plate and frame mounts. Its intended for the hardest pulls without worry of bending or fatigue during extreme angles.

We use heavy duty 3/8" frame mounting plates that tie in the lower radiator mount and do NOT go further back with bracing for two reasons:

1.) Its completely unnecessary. We've sold 1,000+ over the years of this same design premise to the 4runner crowd and have YET to hear of a single case of failure of any mounting points or frame issues. These bumpers have literally been all over the world in the harshest conditions known to man, from South Africa to Saudi Arabia and even into the jungles of Venezuela. Customers write in telling stories of how their 10,000lb Warn winch completely bogged down and the bumper didnt flinch. We pride ourselves on making our products with an OEM+ look and brute strength that is unsurpassed.
2. ) Installing brackets that essentially remove the crumple zones is, in our opinion, unsafe and not worth the risk. There are multiple locations in the frame that have intentional weak spots that these brackets essentially reinforce making them much more difficult to crumple. Its been proven time and time again that allowing the vehicle to absorb the damage is better than the drivers body doing so. If it comes down to the vehicle destroying itself to protect me and my family, then that's the way I want it. This is the single reason we beef up our bumper on the front end to keep these safety features.

We also have been offering the 2012-2015 version for some time now as well and offer services such as custom light bar mounting and custom powder coating options. We offer 3 standard led light choices all of which come with the light bar. Even our most inexpensive led bar is still a high quality performer with a LIFETIME warranty and unique features that even some of the big boys arent offering. We pride ourselves in our customer service and have multiple layers of quality control to ensure that every single bumper is treated as though I'd be running it on my own truck to show at SEMA.

 

Work of art! I like mixing it up. I'll likely go SSO slim line for the front, C4 for rear since offers BSM. Undecided on side steps. Possibly C4 or Mobtown.

 

That's exactly where I am at. SSO front, C4 rear (BSM support), mobtown side and under.

 

Probably me too. Wish I could get C4 to get some Rigid lights in that rear bumper.
Also thinking those new Pelfreybilt aluminum skids that mate with the Pro skid... digity done.

We may be able to offer a Rigid light cutout in the rear bumper. Which lights were you wanting to use?

 

D2 series, but frankly open to what would best integrate.

 

You thinking D2 flush mounts? They would probly fit. We would just need the dimensions and mounting hole layout from Rigid to make sure they would work.

Yes! And I was totally signed up for one, but I wanted something that would be more of a bumper than a hidden winch mount. I think the us offroad one is far superior in the hidden winch mount game than any others, but it doesn't have the front bumper protection these three do. Thus, I'm considering that to be in a different product category.

 

That's actually a pretty good assessment. I'm following along since I'm thinking about what I want as a solution, and to do that I need to figure out my needs. Recovery points plus winch mount vs those plus some front end protection. That's the curse of having several great products and vendors, it makes the choice difficult.

 

Yeah tell me about it... That's why I started this thread. I figured I would include as much info as I could so others may compare and benefit. I think they are all great options, and this comes down to personal requirements. A similar thread could probably be made for the hidden winch mount systems out there.

 

Ok - can confirm these are compatible with the SSO slimline. Install was a bit harder than it needed to be, had to grind some mount points and the forward edge out a bit due to a weld seam that was interfering with a flat lay.

Didn't help it was 28 in the snow either.

I think the mount plate are 3/8 on the SSO (vs 1/4 on the C4) so the braces are offset forward 1/8 inch, you're at the ragged edge of threads on the bumper mount studs.

 

frame plates are 3/8" on our slimline hybrid, 33% thicker than 1/4". Like I mentioned though, that additional bracing essentially removes the crumple zones and isnt necessary with our design. Just be aware.

 

That was a typo. And yep, meant to mention the crumplezone tradeoff.

 

New math? 3/8 was 50% more than 2/8 last I checked...
