Even after this hard time passes, there will be moments. I get times I want to call my dad. Like right now.
    Sorry for your loss.

Kind of how I live now. Especially being a type 1 diabetic albeit well controlled. Were going to be dead one day. Do what you want and enjoy your truck , cruiser, etc while you can. When your dead none of it will have mattered. Sorry for your loss.

Yeah, as morbid as it sounds, it is comforting to think one day we will all be gone and in the same place. Earth is just a temporary home for us. My Dad always said the older you get, the faster time seems to go. I totally agree with that statement.
When I get the strength I go out and look at the FJ. I know these old non-fuel injected cars don't like to sit so I HAVE to start it occasionally. It is -15 degrees today here in Wyoming, so I will probably take it out when it warms up a bit.

Don't mind me over here just chopping onions.

I'm sorry for the loss of your Dad. That's a beautiful FJ but more importantly than that, every time you drive it, you can think back on the memories you had with him.

    Workin' on it....
Sorry for your loss, cancer is one of those things that can come out of the blue without any warning. He will be with you every time you drive it and that will be comforting to know. Enjoy it and pass it on down your own family some day.

Sorry for your loss. But don't feel guilt or undue sadness... it's part of life, and you having that FJ was one of the final things that he wanted. Be happy about that.

I say throw a tarp over it and forget it for a while. Then, a few months from now or when you feel like you could use his wisdom, advice or company just go out there, uncover it, and sit in the truck. It will be like he's right there with you.

Sorry for your loss, 20 years ago I lost my dad. He wanted me to have a diamond ring that had been his dad's, when he passed away. It hard to express, it will always be dad's ring, it took a long time before it felt like it belongs to me. One day you will enjoy the FJ like your dad intended, it takes time.

I lost my father 4 years ago. I am doing everything I can to buy the last boat he made. It wont hurt to see it, it will honour him that I have it. You too will leave the pain behind and relish your fathers memory every time you sit in the FJ.

NCIS Agent Gibbs said: "Close your eyes and remember the good times."

My dad took me on a drive along the Feather River checking the water gauges. I was just old enough to kind of remember, so probably still in the 50s. He would stop at all of those round corrugated metal buildings along the river and 'do what he did then'. He worked at the Calif Dept of Water Resources at that time. Civil Engineer. (You know, the civil engineer is the guy that would have never put the waste disposal system next to the recreation area, if he designed the human body.)
He took me backpacking when I was 10, and I never forgot that. Lake Gilmore in Desolation Wilderness and we climbed Mt Tallack.
My dad, in between jobs, worked at jobs he must have hated to bring food home.
I only wish I could be half as good a man as my dad. Not a tough guy, just a good man. And his dad was never there, so he did it without having been taught.
And, I wish I could tell him that cuz I never did, well not directly.
    I miss him so bad.

So used to reading whining posts on forums, thought this was going to be the same.

    Not at all.

Thanks for sharing, sounds like you have quite the family. That truck will bring a smile to your face sooner than you think.
