I'm looking to doing 5100's all the way around on my rig. '13 TRD Sport DCSB. I'm not looking for a huge overall lift but i could live with an inch or two. I want to get a good level look and good performance for mild off-roading. I know i can straight up install the Bilsteins with no modification to anything else BUT I'm looking to add Steel bumpers, front and back, and don't want to nose dive at every red-light. I think from what i've read that i should upgrade the springs to counter this but what are the exact dimensions/springs i would need? So far i think i have them down between: and Which would be the better option?

May also want to consider OME 886 coils. They are made for the extra weight up front. A lot of guys up here run them with added bumpers and what not.

I can't personally speak about having those coils but I've been doing a lot of research recently trying to figure out what setup with work for my needs. From what I've seen the 886 coils seem to be a go too.

I'm looking for something that wont over extend what i already have. Just a stock size with some extra beef to hold the weight up. The 5100's will give all the lift i need, i just need some holdup muscle. I don't know what the dimensions are on the OEM parts other than the rate is 540.

    886 coils are 660lbs
    885 coils are 580lbs

    IIRC

If you plan for steel up front do 886's.

I've got 886 but would like to upgrade to Icon 700lb coils and then do a sway bar delete.

I looked at both those options just now and what is currently throwing me off is the dimensions. The ICON's are 14x5x5 and the 886 are 18x15x8.

Could someone please explain the difference? I don't want to get into this project wheels off and have something not fit. This is my DD and ONLY vehicle available.

The tricky aspect of this is finding some beefy coils to support the extra weight, but not lift it up too much. The OME 886s paired with the 5100s will give you ~2"-2.5" on a double cab with a steel front bumper. Only thing is then you'll want to lift the rear which'll cost you about another $250. To be honest I'm not sure if those types of coils exist.

18x15x8? That sounds like the dimensions of the box two 886s ship in.

Where did you get those numbers?

I would do these ones with the 5100 set at zero if I were you. Should get you the mild lift and increased spring rate you're looking for. 886 will be overkill unless you are looking for 2+ inches and carrying a winch.

i have the 885 on my truck with arb bumper and no winch. but yeah the 886 if you want it to be 3in u need bumper, winch sliders, etc. but the 885 with bumper only should suffice so I I driven 7K miles with the 885 and arb bumper and it settled nice. when I had my 886 for the 1K miles with the arb bumper it was up 3.5in lift and my cvs angles were all jacked. so just headsup and letting you know about my exp. on them. but also if you only had them brand new and you don't like it you can contact arb usa HQ based in auburn WA, they will send you a different coil within the 90days of having your coils.

OP, you have reasonably stated your goals.

Call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road, tell her the goals, and go from there.

Thanks everyone for the input. Seems like it's between the 885 and 886 right now. I'm going to keep on with the research and call around especially @HeadStrong Off-Road to see what they recommend. I'll have before and after pics for reference once I have the money and decision made.

Based off the original post (an inch or two) you are not going to want to go with anything more than the 885 coils or maybe 887. Considering the small amount of lift desired, I would suggest the 885 coils are going to be your best bet. They are 590lbs/in and will handle the additional weight of a bumper.

You can always give us call or send us an email. :)

I'm so tempted to yank my sway bar off. Your setup sounds very similar to mine. Though I've got a DCLB. My local shop swears they don't want to pull my sway bar because I'll "hate how it handles". As it is now, with sway bar, the truck can't lean in corners at all. It's like riding on rails no matter how fast I'm moving on a curve. LOL

Man I'm going to chime in with a question.
So I ordered some King coilovers (standard w/ 600lb) but I chose them to come with 650lb coils. As of right now it is a bone stock 2017 DCSB. My question is at what point of adding armor/bumpers/winch is when one should switch over to the 650 or 700 pound coils. Reason I went with the 650 is because this year I plan on getting sliders, and a skid or two. bumper and winch won't be until 2018 most likely, or late 2017. I'm just second doubting myself on the 650's being a bit too stiff for only sliders and a skid or two. Thanks a lot fellas!
