So as I was searching Craigslist for a used RTT, someone posted about an Odin Designs RTT Group Buy.

Does anyone have one? Are they good? I like to save money, and group buys save money, so I was thinking about it.

    Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. The group buy ends November 30th. $1600 is a lot for a tent so I'm trying to make sure it's what I'm looking for (which from photos it is). Plus a black and grey tent? Hell yeah. Those are my colors! Plus I'm in Timnath so Castlerock is only 2 hours away which saves $150

Well shipping is free, to lower 48 so saving $$ on shipping isn't a huge deal.

I did run across a thread from the owner of Odin Designs and I guess I wasn't super impressed. Someone asked how his was different than any of the other Chinese manufactured ones that have already proven themselves (CVT, Tepiu, etc.).

    His reply:

    Hey Guys,

This is Reuben, owner of Odin. Yes, these tents are made in China, the same manufacturer as Tepui, Treeline and previously CVT. What features and details have I put into these tents? Nothing revolutionary yet, just used the best choices available. The old tigerz11 tent that I was using while traveling around Australia had some major design flaws and wasn't the easiest to put away and the whole time I was using it, I kept telling myself how I could make it better. Coming back to the states I tracked down the manufacturer and discovered that most of the issues were already corrected. So for the first couple tents I just went with the best options, skylights, telescoping ladders, ykk zippers ect. Not having the capital I can't make any of drastic changes I would like to make just yet, remote led lighting, some badass camo, annex capable of holding a stove, reduced profile ect. So I am doing what I can with what I have. I have no idea why it took another tent company this long to put an led light and usb port in a tent, my old tigerz11 had had a couple led strips and cigarette usb charger all powered by some speaker wire (i was on a pretty tight budget).

So right now as I work on my prototypes, I am forced into the whole "same tent, different name" to raise the money needed. Which isn't so bad for consumers because like 1Louder said

competition is ALWAYS good. and you get free shipping. As for deals "ask and ye shall receive." [IMG]

So basically, it's pretty much the same as the others? But is a Group Buy worth it? I'd like a RTT but it's a lot of $$ so want to spend it on something definitely worth it. I guess he'll probably bring some awesome stuff in the future. Oh well. Tents won't be ready until like March or something anyhow after the Group Buy.

    Cheers

I have only seen a Tepui, as my friends all have wildernests because they found really good deals. I don't want something hard topper style. Let me know what you decide. The deadline is so quick I'm not sure I can swing it in time. I'm hoping my company can pull off a group buy or something early spring if the owner decides. I hope he succeeds and gets to build the tents he has imagined, and if it works out I'll be able to help (a little with the purchase of one)..

I didn't..yet. I've been talking with the owner tho and he's a nice guy. I'm definitely going to get one of his tents vs the bigger name stuff just because;)

Did you pull the trigger? I hope plenty of folks did..

There's a group buy on here from another company right now. RTTs as low as 595.

I've been talking to a manufacturer about buying a handful of tents for resale and it's the same company that builds Tepui and other major companies. It's amazing what the mark up is on RTTs.

Great guy, Great products. I own a 270° awning from Odin and know the owner. He takes great pride in his products.

It's comical how all the brands look exactly the same.
