:help::help::help::mad: I was quoted $135 to have a new master key made for my truck. I lost the 1 key I had ( that would start the truck) but did have a non-chipped key that unlocked doors and would unlock steering but not start the car. So I spent $60 for a tow truck and went to Toyota, I was then written a quote, of $135.00 cool even less than the fist quote. Literally 5 min later dude says oh we didn't realize u didn't have a key. Now it's $336..... :angrygirl:. Never would have towed it if I had a key. Duh...I don't have money like that, I just moved and just had x-ms. I'm broke!
    Barley scraped together the $135.
So how long does it actually take to wipe and reprogram the computer for the chipped keys?
    3 hours seems very unlikely!

    I feel I'm being hustled cause I'm a girl!!:help:

A male or female customer makes no difference to them. That's the price that service dept. gets for a new key/program. It would cost you more money to tow it to another dealer, I'd just pay what they quoted..... or ask for some sort of discount because of your hardship.

    Good luck.

Welcome to TW!So,so sorry Jen!Don't tow your truck to another dealer.Unfortunetely that's quote or way that it is!I used to work for Lexus back yr's ago and they're price was very expensive!Hope it works out for the best for you!Paying what you were quoted is most likely going to be your best resolve if you can manage that!Different dealerships have there own individual way of being stealerships!

    I hear what your saying.
But I was in fact quoted $135 then 5 min later he called me and said nah it would b $336, my written quote actually says $135 but all of a sudden 5 min. Later tells me it's gonna take 3 hours. Really I find it extremely hard to believe a mechanic trained and expirenced with toyotas, is sitting there for 1 hour wiping then reprogramming the imobilizer chip. Let alone for 3 hours. Don't get me wrong I've only ever had toyotas, my dad, mom and bro all toyotas. And we are long time customers of this Toyota dealership. But this trip in has been disappointing to say the least.
