Hey all, pretty new to posting on here but have used plenty of previous threads on my build and looking general stuff up.

I was wondering if anyone know how to remove and reinstall the gps shark fin on top of the cab. It seems mine has come a little loose. If doesn't seem to flap around when driving however it is no longer flush with the top of the truck. I noticed on the fin there is a scrap, my guess is when I had the valet (never again) park my truck he may have backed up and hit it and moved it??

There isn't any damage anywhere that I can see aside from the scratch (scratch on the plastic fin doesn't bother me) but what bothers me is it no longer sits flush with the top of the truck. Doesn't seem dented in by looking at it from different angles. Anyone know how I could remove it to check if there is damage under it or how I can reinstall / make it sit flush? If I press it down (gently) it will sit flush but pops up when I remove pressure. I'm assuming dealer won't wanna cover this since they will see the scrape on the fin. Plus, dealer has never been helpful to me anyways, at least the two near me.

    Anyone? Thank you!!

I think I read somewhere you have to go under the headliner to get to it.

I'd be concerned with possible leaks if it's not flush.

I'd take it back to the dealership and tell them to fix it cause that's what you got a warranty for!

Is this something that could of happened in delivery? I know my truck had a big scratch in the roof when it was at the dealer.

I wonder if it could have happened when they wash the trucks before delivery? Most of those guys drop the towels picking up dirt and grit and just use it to wash or dry the cars causing scratches.

Bolts in from underneath. You're probably going to have to pull the headliner.

    Reason #42 for a dual-channel dashcam setup...

I will drop off my wife and walk five blocks before I let a valet touch one of my vehicles.

For sure happened rwcently, not during purchasing. Damn I really don't want to remove the headliner at all. Anyone know of a "band-aid" fix for now until i figure out if I really want to have the interior liner removed to get to it? Maybe silicone around the gap t avoid water coming in? Started raining this weekend and it's here to stay for at least a week.

I have e6000 handy for other projects not truck related, wonder if that or silicone or anything else for that matter may work to just seal it for now and fix later?

Assuming you don't feel like duct taping your new truck, I'd probably consider a thin bead of black RTV under the edge of the fin. With a bit of weight on top of the fin until the RTV sets, it should then hold and provide weatherproofing. Just be sure to check the temperature range so you don't apply it too cold. When you do end up doing the real fix, it should remove without too much drama.

Same here. Check out this ABC News story on valet parking.

OP, at least get a quote from your local Toyota dealer. May not be that expensive to have them fix it if you don't to deal with the liner yourself.

I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off. That was enough. :D

Agreed; see what they'll do before you do anything yourself. Might be you get lucky and they'll do it free/cheap. If they quote outrageous, patch for now and do your repair when time allows.
