I would assemble everything (chain to jack bracket, chain to relief bracket) before packing it in the truck. May also need to ream out the hole in the base plate for the quick release pin. I was stuck in the snow years ago and had to put the kit together, on the tailgate of my scout, on the trail at night. Not fun.

The kit works well. I also keep a 10' length of chain in my truck since it's tricky to get everything tensioned to the right length. Can't attach mid-line to a towstrap.

Haven't used it in 10 years, and only used it once, but it's always in the truck for rear or side pulling. And if you need to use it in conjunction with a tow strap (or 2) for added length, you'll need 2 or 3 more d-shackles, which you probably already have.

Cabin in Cisco Grove. One exit passed Eagle Lakes road. The last warm rain we had up there turned 2-3 feet of snow from Thanksgiving into water real quick. It backed up over the road and was only a few inches from coming in. When I went up there on Friday night, there was 4-5 feet of snow.

Just picked up a set of these for $3.52 at Home Depot in case anyone is looking for some. Can't beat that price and to just stick in the truck for random use. Might grab a couple more to put in my wife's car.

Well the commissioners have officially declared us in a state of emergency due to flooding. No school for the kids and businesses urged to close their doors tomorrow. And here I though I was finally going to have a quiet day at work since the boys have been home for 2 weeks.

Thanks but I'm fine. I'm not near a water runoff and my house is at the top of the street. Also have a whole basement full of dry goods and my generator that runs the whole house so I don't end up all @Bentrodder annoyed by wives and kids that can't charge their phone. And I definitely don't have a problem finding fresh water right now.

I need the house to be empty these days too. Otherwise "work" doesn't work...

Good tips. I have lots of shackles. Do a little rigging at work. Plus, they made us toss all the shackles that were made in China. Had one fail, so all had to go. Mostly use Crosby now.

Got two Honda 2000's here at home. Used one on Tuesday. Must be a nice one to be able to run the house. 10,000?

I have a Westinghouse 8500 and a manual transfer switch on the house. It works well enough as long as we are conscious we are on generator power. I can't run the clothes dryer and both heaters at the same time. Whole house is LED and energy star at this point. Most of the time it's a no brainer as long as I keep it under 50 amps.

No we don't but I'd be happy to have it be homebase for some wheeling sometime.
