Honest wash or chemicals guys

I use lots of Chemical Guys products - clay bars, V38 polish, foam cannon, Honeydew soap, Blacklight glaze, V07 sealant, and Diablo Gel wheel cleaner. Now that I think of it, only my orbital polisher isn't from them, got it from Griot's. The only product I've used from Chemical Guys that I didn't like is their floor mat cleaner - didn't work nearly as good as V07.

 

Yeah I like the Meguiar's Gold Class car wash soap. Going to try the Ultimate Wash and Wax in the spring. It has some good reviews on Amazon.

Meguires Deep Crystal best over the counter bang for the buck

 

Im a huge fan of chemical guys. Their products go a long ways, the smells are freaking amazing. One time I was pouring my honeydew soap and spilled a little bit, I was SO tempted to lick it up.

 

Yeah that has good reviews also and our local Walmart carries it.

I've used several Chemical Guys products and like them all to some extent. I'm not a fan of how cheap their caps and stuff are, I've had multiple items arrive leaking which isn't fun but overall their stuff is good. I prefer a local made and sold brand called Show Car, their stuff is much cheaper and IMO better than Chemical Guys. Good luck with whichever you go with.

 

Does fair for over the counter. There are definitely better soaps out there.

Not exactly what I had in mind. Adams and Chemical Guys both make better soaps than either Megs soaps listed.

Totally understand. I started off with Dawn (yikes!) as my regular wash, then went to the Megs Deep Crystal. Seemed like I had to use a ton of it to make suds. Then I switched to Adams. I bought a gallon around 3 years ago and I am finally about to run out. Only takes 2 ounces per wash.

I once thought soap was soap. Just like all microfiber was the same. Yeah the products may cost more upfront but in the end it's well worth it.

 

I use meguirs for everything. I use the wash, the wax, the detailer spray, the quick wax. I have learned over the years that if you use the same product for everything, the results turn out better.

Never had luck washing with one brand, waxing with a different brand, clay bar with another brand. I really like meguires stuff. Is Adams or chemical guys better, not saying they are or arent, never have used them, but i like being able to go to the local auto parts store when i run out in mid detail and buy the extra supplies. To each their own, but i have won several car shows in my younger years with meguires products being behind the "show car" glaze.

i use some Meguires products like car wash, Quik Detailer w/Sonus polycharger(kit), Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere waterless(great stuff). And also Boutiques like Zaino Clear seal and All in One polish, Adams VRT. Since April 2016 I haven't had steady work so the funds aren't really there to justify an all out buying frenzy for detailing stuff, I make do with over the counter products that do the job at lower cost and use rebates/sales when i can,

I used to have some rides that I occasionally entered in local shows. Won a few trophies, drew a lot of kudos.

But the soap used had nothing to do with it. Some work easier than others, but most any dedicated car soap works well enough to

1) remove dirt
2) reduce risk of paint damage
3) not strip existing wax layers

It's what you do after it's clean that makes all the difference.

 

I use Meguiar's Gold Class. This soap does not strip wax, it suds well, and it's cheap. I've never heard of Honest Wash, but I'm very familiar with Chemical Guys products. I stick to Meguiar's as much as possible, but I'd still recommend CG products to anyone that's interested.

Only thing out of what you mentioned that I've used are the polishes. I've used M205 a foam polishing pad and a foam polishing pad and DA polisher to correct my trucks paint no problem. I've used Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Compound before, but stopped after I learned how to use a DA polisher and learned of the stuff professional detailers use. I never knew that stuff existed until I started doing a ton of research, and I had similar frustrations as you did when I first started out.
