IMG_0506.jpg Hello from El Paso! I have a 2014 TRD Sport. Bought it in Carlisle, PA a little over a year ago and finally got around to adding a 3" Pro Comp with 265/70/17. I've been looking at all the forums for a while now and decided it was finally time to post.
Having some issues since installing the lift, rims and tires and hope to get it figured out this week. Have the humming/vibrations at 40-60 mph, Toyota is going to replace the needle bearing this week! Also getting some wobble in the steering wheel that wasn't there after the lift was installed but came about after the wheels/tires went on. Going to the shop for another balance this week as well.
Question: What's everybody's thoughts on the diff drop??? I have read all of the threads from here and other websites about it and seems there is a 50/50 on whether to put one on or not. I have mine installed but may take it off.......I did take it off and drove it around some, it seemed to help with the hum, then put it back on yesterday and the humming was gone for the 10 miles that I drove it, but tonight it came back. (Don't beat me up, I already used the search feature and looked through all of the threads already, just seeing if there is anybody new to post about it)

Welcome to TW. I'm sure one of the other folks will drop by and give some info on the humm.

I've got the three inch skyjacker lift on my 2011,never did the differential drop but did install a spacer kit for the rear driveshaft support bearing and it helped with noise and vibration. Can't remember the technical term for the bearing.

It could just be the noise of beefier tires that you haven't heard before? Or depending on the balancer weights your shop put on they could have came off. That's all I got though!

Thanks for the replies. Toyota replaced the needle bearing which took care of the humming sound. Went back and had the shop recheck the tires and rebalance and they rotated them. All is good now.
