The Good: got the tech deck installed with ram mount and lead nav gps on the ipad.

On saturday the snow started flying so we decided to do a snow run on sunday. The trip started out great was in some deep powder and the truck was doing great. Hit a few deep snow drifts, where the max traxx came in hand.

    IMG_0954.jpg

The Bad: Just about a 100 yards away from mild snow, we broke through the ice on top of a snow drift and got high centered on the snow. Tried shoveling out and using the tracks but we were stuck.

    IMG_0957-1.jpg

After further trying to get myself unstuck we broke the ring & pinion in the rear diff, and now we were going nowhere. During this time a couple of jeeps tried to make up to us but couldn't get close, then a bunch of diesel dodges tried to make it up but they got buried in the snow as well. It's fun to watch a 37" tire disappear in the snow. Between all the tow straps i had, my hi-lift and winch, and all of the chains the dodges had we were able to reach them, and started winching ourselves out.

The Ugly: After winching out and packing up, the wife was spooling in the cable and we had a miscommunication which resulted in me almost losing my finger.

    WARNING NSFW

The only thing that keep it from coming fully off, is i had my leather gloves on. I guess don't let your wife use the winch when she's mad at you. 20 stitches later it back together but not sure if the top part of my finger will make it or not.

So all in all, got my ass kicked over the weekend and broke the truck. Time to recoup and buy new parts.

After spending 4 hours at the hospital, and getting numbed up had to head back out to the trail to get the truck back.

Pulled the drive line and put it in 4wd and drove it over to a friends house.

A simple 3 hour tripped turned into an all day shit show. :annoyed:

I'm very sorry about your finger!! BUT! The main question is, what did you do to make your wife so mad that she ripped your finger off???

    shovel snow haha

Yeah, it was had to tell if it was the axle or the r&p when it was buried in the snow, but getting pulled the 6 miles back to the trail had, i was able to tell it was the r&p.

Yeah, we were prepared to spend the night if it needed to happened.

One of the only good things was we had the high mark on the hill, the jeeps, and a built 4 runner and two built yotas couldn't make it up to us.

yeah, i'm sure you could have made it or at least close enough to get a strap or rope to,

yeah, but it's not her fault. it was her first time running the winch, shit happens. I should have been more clear in my instructions
