I hated not having a channel in my 1st gen. Every time you cleaned the windshield the dirty water dribbled down the driver (and passenger) window.

I am impressed by how little wind noise this 3rd gen has. When going 75 on new asphalt this thing is really quiet. Get on a rough/normal highway and the road noise is apparent. Exhaust seems too boomy at low speed and rpm, also.

My 1st gen had the channel, I think it came with the cold weather package. I had the windshield replaced once and molding they used didn't have the channel and I didn't catch it it in time.

I'd take wind noise over road noise any day. The exhaust boom is completely out of character with the rest of the truck.

as far as road noise from the rear cab vents, I put in sound proofing from the back seats and up the back of the cabin. It helped some. Read where someone put foam over cab vents. I used 1/2 inch memory foam, cut it about 2' to big and used alum duct tape to secure it place. Major effect on lowering cabin noise. Door still close easy. No other issues yet ; ) we shall see.

Thanks for that info, I am about to order some soundproofing materials.

I assume you mean 2" (two inches) taller and wider than the vents?

Take the back plastic out and just put a piece of gorilla tape over the huge cab vents. That's what I did and it's 100% better!!! Doors close good I haven't had any issues yet other not hearing that loud ass exhaust sound in the cab.
