With the Duramax Colorado allegedly getting 31 MPG, if a Tacoma with a diesel could get that, I'd be interested. I don't tow though. It would be nice to have the added range.

Just saying the 3.5L lacks low end torque I'm looking for, if I want to race, I open garage door 2, Camaro SS.

Toyota and GM need to partner up and shoehorn LSx & LQ engines into Tacomas.

Writing memo to Akio and Mary now.

And I see people allegedly getting 26+ with their Tacoma's here. Couple that with diesel costing almost 20% more then gas where I live and the premium money for the diesel motor upgrade then the added cost of maintenance with a diesel, I'll pass as of right now.

Now with that being said I might consider looking at them if I was in the market for a truck, if it looked like things would work out cheaper in the end.

I agree, added range for me would be a major plus.

Yeah, that's why I threw in the "allegedly" part. I'm not sure that's a real world number. But if it was, it would be enough to pique my interest. Adding 150+ miles of range to the tank, would be nice. I'm not really concerned with the cost of fuel at this point, it's all pricey. The interest comes from the thought of having more range. $35 to fill up now, I would be able to handle $50 to fill up. I came from the half ton world so as long as I'm not hitting the $75 limit on the fuel pump, I'm happy haha.

EDIT: I know it changes constantly, but diesel is only 20-30 cents more a gallon right now here in the Dallas area. That'll probably change tomorrow....

Tacoma gets 19, baby Duramax gets 25. This is according to real world data off of Fuelly. 31 on the Chevy would likley be as rare as 25 for a v6 Tacoma.

And the Dodge Dakota will be back in 2019 also. Oh I'm looking forward to seeing it along with the Ford Ranger!

Here in Canada, diesel fuel is cheaper, that's why VW sells so many TDI's

There you go. I figured it was too good to be true. I'm not even hitting the MPG from the stickers that were on my truck at the dealership. I'm sure they meant downhill and with a tailwind when they made those numbers...

Indeed. Its less than 60mph, warm, no wind, and no ethanol. That's how the EPA hwy numbers are generated.

same here. I read somewhere recently (last few months) that they came out and said no because of the 1500 eco diesel doing well enough. I'd be interested in seeing what it would look like. But that's about it. Never was much of a fan of those.
