As a visitor from Colorado it appears to me your saguaro population is fucked up. There aren't any small saguaros to replace the giant ones. I've been covering a lot of ground the past 45 days and I can count on one hand the saguaros I've seen on BLM land that are less than 4' tall.

I don't mean to be a jackass about this but that's not a sustainable system. Appears to me in 50 years there won't be jackshit for saguaros in the areas I've been hiking in.

I didn't have any say in moving to Tucson. I'll be finding a place in Songtan, South Korea soon and then Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Yeah, they're slow-growing, but the disparity between old ones and lack of young ones is glaring. If there were say 30% of total saguaros less than 4' tall I'd say that's a sustainable population. There isn't though.

I bought 1000 saguaro seeds for $7.50, I'll plant them 1/8" deep on the south base of a nurse plant.

Kansas/Nebraska farm boy roots, been a vegetable gardener all my life, I know how to get plants growing. This morning I saw burro tracks and fresh dung - they'll get after any saguaro shoots, them and javelina are non-native so it makes it more of a chore for saguaro shoots to grow up. Burro, javelina, they'll tear up the fresh shoots along with native rabbits. I figure I'll plant some seeds and see what happens.

Here it is, I think he is down in Tucson.

If you want to loose a few days, here is the EP master ambo thread with links to several builds. Took me a few weeks at work to get through them all.
    http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...-Expedition-Rig-Conversion-FAQ?highlight=Ambo

If anyone is in a position to start an ambo build, RuralMetro/AMR is replacing all the valley trucks over the next couple of years. They sell them all to a scrap metal place in Mesa, near the main station at Date and Main. I can't remember the name of the scrap yard, but a couple of weeks ago the had a few dozen ambos on the lot.

A few. We have an old Boston 4x4 up here, it's replacement is in the valley geting setup and certified. I would love to have it, but lack funds, a shop, or the skills to do it.

@RPS1030, @XPOTRPR or other peeps. I am going to be doing a bumper soon and so that will bring lighting upgrades. I don't want to break the bank but want to cover a wide variety. I am thinking a couple cubes and a 20" bar. Would you do amber cubes and plain bar, or do plain cubes and then combo bar? Flood cubes and driving bar? Any other thoughts? Thanks

Who knew Ryan is a damn cactus guru too? Can you stop being so knowledgeable please :D

But seriously, @monkeyface the health of the saguaro population in AZ is often debated. I am actually working on my Master's in Natural Resources (fisheries, not rangeland or plants) right now so I hear a lot. Some think it's fine, other would say it's not in an ideal condition.

Here's a good reading for you if you really wanna dive deep into it:

Yeah maybe that would be good. Bite the bullet and get 3 sets of lights. Amber cubes in spot, combo bar, and flood ditch lights.
