I'm not sure what to use for a search so I didn't get any results, has anyone gotten keyless entry to work on other doors?

My lexus works on all 4 door handles, and I often find myself needing to get in the passenger door so it would be handy if you could buy another driver door handle and install it on the passenger side (for example) to gain keyless entry at least on each side...not really a big deal for the back doors.

Just wondering if anyone has tried to figure out a way to get it to work on the passenger side.

It can work to unlock all the doors on touch, but it's still all controlled through the drivers side door.

Installing another handle would be cool, but it would be upside down (unless you got one from a RHD truck)

Yeah mine already unlocks all doors which is useless when you're approaching the passenger door with fistfuls of groceries.

The door handle looks pretty symmetrical but I haven't taken it apart to verify if mounting is symmetrical or not which would define for sure whether you could or couldn't mount it upside down

The handle wouldn't be upside down if installed on the right passenger door. If you lock your driver handle from underneath it also has the hash marks and locks.

I have no idea what Toyota doesnt standardize some of these features. My Corolla has it on both doors but the Tacoma is only driver side..

I find it annoying since I usually open the door for my wife

This is what I'm trying to figure out, is the mounting symmetrical therefore essentially some extension of wiring could be done to tie the passenger door handle into the driver's side so the truck really doesn't know the difference...I dunno maybe it's too complex but I was wondering if someone already did it.

I have the TRD OR with the package and it is only controlled through the driver side door. Why Toyota didn't put them on the passenger side is right up there with why are there no clips for the passenger side floor mats. Flaw in the design as I see it. Still love the truck.

Other than the handle, the mod would also require an antenna in the passenger door to sense the smart key.

I think the antenna is part of the handle assembly

Like many others in today's Product Development environment, they want to give you less and less, while you pay more and more, and they convince you there is more and more value in it.

Then it would be cheaper than I thought to upgrade. The driver handle is around $158 already painted

It may not be that simple. You would need to interface into a digital system, in a security minded environment.

I can't figure that one out either, both pillars have airbags, if angled correctly it doesn't obstruct vision. Gotta be a cost thing.
