And I flew the Mooney to Vegas and back last week... stupid headwind made the trip there terrible... but the return trip was quick at least :)

Cool pics, I was a CH46E crew member in the USMC (93-99). Family owns a FBO in NV and we used to do the airshows with a Mig 17 which I got to fly a few times. Got my ticket while stationed at MCAS El Toro. T34Bs were $65 wet in the 90s!

I havent used my ticket in a long time, not even sure I want to. Had a few close calls over the years and not as comfortable as I used to be.

HMM-164 turned into a training squadron and moved to camp pend. I got to fly the 46 a few times, really neat what she could do. During MCT they handed out MOS's and the only thing I didnt want was "that egg beater ch47 looking thing" but it turned out to be one of the best deals going. They ran out of crew chiefs in the mid 90s so I stepped up and went through the training. I was a mech on them so it wasn't that difficult to go through the Aircrew side.

This joke is difficult to deliver over the internet, but I'll try anyway:

How can you tell someone is a Mooney or Lear Jet pilot?

(The person telling the joke then tilts their head to the left or right.)

The 70 knots ground speed we had  Our Mooney is fun, but she isn't going to win any awards since it's an O-360 Ranger model with rock hard seats!

    LMAO!!!!! You're not wrong! hahahahahaha

This write up talks a little about the FBO the old man owns as well as the Yak project. He went to russia about the same time I enlisted, at first he was going to import russian beer, then export our clothes but ended up importing planes. Yak 52s, 55s, the Yak 9 and bird he and another engineer designed called a E3 which used the 52 engines.
