Should fit a double cab. It's pretty roomy.

I also have the one from lowes, it was polished also but purchased paint and primer the same day. Paint holds up well but the box itself isn't something that will keep a thief out. It's flimsy but holds what I need it to.

That's kinda how mine is. If someone wants to get into a truck box it's gonna happen pretty easily. I wouldn't call it flimsy but it's thin aluminum and I did drink from the plasti-dip juice with it. But it was only 130 ish.

Yeah I didn't think that it would be that high either. I wish I could have found it in black like you did. It's just a rebadged version of the one you posted. It even has the deezee paperwork inside. I'm trying to figure out a better way to mount it than the self tappers that were provided. But I like it and the price was right .

I have the exact same one I snagged for $40. It was rusted to high hell though so I had to strip and repaint it.

The whole reason 1st gen toolboxes are so rare is the same reason why 1st gen Tacomas keep their value so well and are so desirable, they don't manufacture compact trucks anymore. I can park my '98 in the shadow of a '17 Pro. Same goes for toolboxes, they don't make compact toolboxes for compact trucks because they aren't being produced anymore.

PSA: If you're going to repaint your toolbox keep in mind it's an absolute PITA. Sanding, sanding, and more sanding. Also don't use "Perfect Match" Toyota paint because you're going to end up paying more in automotive paint than a brand new toolbox costs.
    Ask me how I know.

just bought the black better built from Amazon...pretty sure better built makes the Kobalt box at Lowes, but for some reason Lowes doesn't sell the black version. It was $10 more on Amazon, but I figured I'd spend at least $10 on the acetone, primer, and paint.

This is the link in case anyone is interested: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JHMYJIQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Only thing that I found odd is that the install guide calls for only using two of the four available slots to mount it to the bed. Not sure why only two, would have thought using all four would have made it more secure.

Yep. I want to say it was right at $400. I put attached 2x2's to the bottom to get it sitting flush with the bed rails. Now that I put a lift on the truck it's a little harder to get into but I'm not in it very often so it works for me.

Installed the Betterbuilt box today. Only one dent from shipping. All in all I'm very pleased with it and it will serve me well! PicsArt_01-13-04.57.25.jpg

Try a tool box made for the Ford splash, from my understanding they fit inside and below the bed rail.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
    Think outside the box(es)

That's what I did. $8 inch WeatherGuard coated in truck bed liner works for me.
