    Morning,

Recently had to replace my NSS (neutral safety switch). Truck will now only start via remote start.

    *All Fuses checked, all working.
*In order for engine to fire, have to get the starter to run via remote, then quickly turn key to "start". Otherwise, turns over but does not run
*Also installed brand new battery at same time as NSS
*Truck runs until I push in the brake pedal
*When the key is used, truck will not start at all ((no solenoid click or starter cranking the engine))
*Also noticed that with engine off and key in "run" position, fuel gauge will not register. BUT does function when I do get the engine to run. Radio and everything else seems to be working (signals, blower motor, etc...)

Truck is an 06 V6 Auto. I live in Ontario Canada if that helps lol.

All and any help appreciated. Thanks!

Never heard of NSS but why did u replace it? If after you replaced it and u have problem now then I'd check that all connections or everything was plugged back in right. If it has bypass then maybe there is broken link between ignition switch and computer

Either an issue with the NSS or with the remote start wiring.

I'd look at the remote start first. I beat the tech wired something in wrong. Try disconnecting the entire remote start from the system and starting the truck. If that doesn't work then you knkw it's your NSS

If you go through the gear ranges with the ignition in the " ON " position , does the gear selector illuminate the dash as you go from park down to 2nd gear ?
Have you tried starting the truck in Neutral with the key ?
Why did you replace the NSS switch ? Did the truck start in Park and Neutral before replacing the NSS switch ?
The NSS switch needs to be adjusted properly .

Are you effected by the TSB . Even if you are not effected by this , There is some good diagnostic info within this TSB that may help you fix your issue .

I see you have a good size lift on the truck . Wondering if your shift cable is out of sync with the NSS switch ? The cable is common for going out of adjustment with sagging body mounts .

@gearcruncher, going through the ranges in the "on" everything illuminates respectively, from Park to 1rst. With the key, truck will not start in Neutral OR Park. I had to replace the NSS because it crapped out. Only 1rst thru 3'rd lit up on the dash and would fail to start at all even with the remote start system. Took time to properly sync the NSS with the shift cable. The lift is all suspension DB, so the only thing that got effected was my brake lines. Body mounts are still solid. Ive passed 2 frame inspections "with flying colours" <in Canada we add a U to colour i know i know> as the toyota tech said.

#sy272004 the NSS in an auto is the same idea as the clutch safety start switch in a manual. Will only let you start the engine when the driveline is in a neutral state (neutral or park in an auto, or clutch to the floor in a manual)

Im currently thinking its something with the remote start. Almost like it wont release security when my key is in the barrel. Still doesnt seem to really recgonise when I put the key in the ignition. Im going to just replace all the ignition related fuses today in case there is a hair crack screwimg me over.

Just wish it was somthing my stupidity missed.

Did the truck's remote start work before you changed the NSS? The remote is doing it's job by cranking the motor over but not tuning on the ignition part of the circuit. How did you get the vehicle started before the NSS needed replacing?

check your ignition switch assuming you have the 1GR-FE.

    @Ruggybuggy

The remote start did not work before I changed out the NSS. Before I did the NSS work I had to jiggle the gear selector cane on my tranny. Was one annoying headache.

@JINeration Thanks for the schematic! And the idea, I shalt check that when im out of the mine next week
