Alright guys, I hate to be "that guy" but I have a few questions.
YES I have read a shit ton of lift/suspension/shock threads but I've read so much that information is starting to get muddy in my head.
I currently have a 2016 DCSB SR5 4x2 with 5100's up front at 3rd notch and love the ride and stance. Stock coils and obviously stock UCA's. Rear is also stock.

I'm kinda over the "bro lean" my taco has and I want to lift my rear a bit... maybe 1"-1.5" so it's lifted but level.
I'm thinking of doing 5100's in the rear along with either an AAL or the whole leaf pack... which do you recommend and what brand? I've heard a few people on here say that a single AAL gives the truck a "intolerable ride".
I know people usually don't recommend 1" blocks?

As far as the front, now I'm thinking of changing that up and adding OME coils and setting my 5100's @ 0... thoughts?
what's the benefit of doing 5100's @ 0 with Coils doing the lifting rather than the 5100's @ 3rd notch and stock coils?

Again I know this has been gone over 1000+ times but everything is so spread out and everyone has their own opinion and information gets muddy after a while.

Thanks in advance and I hope someone isn't tired of repeating themselves and can share some info with me!

well if you're thinking of setting your front 5100's to 0 and getting coils that would probably make your front 5100's last longer. Depending on what your needs are and your future plans for the truck will determine your set up. @HeadStrong Off-Road have a good reference for which coils will suit your needs for your 3rd gen.

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/st..._-_Various_Lift_Heights_Available_(PAIR).html

What seems to be the norm if you're not going for a crazy set up but a reliable set up would be...

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p401/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_(HS16BK-1).html

UCA's are suggested for 2.5 and above.

you can go with a full leaf pack replacement which will give you 2.5 - up lift for the rear or single AAL or progressive AAL. Just like my suggestion to TexasTaco31, hit up Marie from HS Offroad or check out other participating vendors in the forum. They'll help you out.

Hey everyone. Like many others here, I've read so much about lifts I think I'm more confused now.

Got into an accident with a Camry last weekend. This has prompted me to pull the trigger on a new front bumper; Pelfreybilt Steel with one hoop for my 2012 TRDOR DCSB.

I guess this means I also need to make a quick decision on my lift as I'm due for an alignment anyway and about to hang some weight off the front.

I was leaning towards the Toytec Boss Kit with the standard rear 2" AAL's and the 650lb front springs. I've owned the truck since new and never had the TSB done on the rear. I thought it was only for 2011 and earlier trucks when I first researched it a few years ago. They're garbage and I load the shit out of my bed regularly.

I'm not so much in this for maximum lift. More concerned about getting a properly sorted set up that can deal with the extra front weight, and a solution for the rear that will properly match the front while better handling weight in the bed. Keeping the geometry closer to stock is better for me. 1.5"-2.5" would be a good range, I'm still on stock size tires. I'll have full skids soon. My budget can't accommodate uca's at the moment, but given time I'd love to add them.

    1) Are the standard Toytec 2" AAL's going to be enough with the original rear leafs? I'd love to throw the full OME Dakar pack on there but that would really be stretching my budget as I didn't have an opportunity to plan for this.

2)It appears the Toytec Boss front coil overs are on backorder. Time is an issue here. If I get the reg. Toytec coil overs with the 600lb standard springs will the weight of the Pelfreybilt bumper keep me from leveling it out with the rear AAL'S? The difference on cost is so small I'd hate to get this over the boss kit but I can't wait months for this.

3)An alternate set up i'm looking at on their site is the OME-TAK-886-DR-AL. That's the 886 springs and the stiffer OME shocks, with the same ToyTec rear 2" AAL and OME shocks. Certainly cheaper, but lacks the front adjustability.

    Thoughts, suggestions? Thanks.

    Edited: grammar and such

I think I have the number 3 option your'e considering on my 2015 DCSB. Except I went with an entire new leaf package designed for heavy loads instead of the AAL option.
I believe ARB and OME are one in the same, not sure if that was always the case or one bought the other out or what? I'm kind of a newbie to all of this myself.
Up front I have ARB 2886 coils
ARB 9000 FRT NITRO STRUT (says OME & has the emu bird image right on the strut)
In the rear new leafs springs
ARB CS047R TACOMA 05+ REAR LE
ARB 60091 NITRO CHARGER SPORT ( says OME same as the front shocks)
Also came with ARB FK29 TACOMA REAR DRIVESHAF ( shim in drive line carrier bearing for proper
drive shaft alignment with added lift)
ARB OMEU53A TACOMA 05+ UBOLT( longer u bolts for the much thicker leaf packs)
ARB OMESB108 SPRING BUSH KIT( new bushings for the new leaf springs)
I purchased my truck new in November of last year, the toyota dealer installed the new suspension package I've shown above before I took delivery. Since then I've been off roading with a couple of friends who are driving modified Rubicons and have gone everyplace they've gone. I've followed theses guys thru a lot of expert trails in Moab and here in Colorado. I honestly can't believe what I've been able to do in this truck. I use my truck for work as well and wanted to be able to carry weight that the sucky stock Tacoma leaf springs can't. Had a 2009 Tacoma DCSB before my new truck and had nothing but trouble with the stock leaf springs. I don't think you would be unhappy with this suspension package. I have to warn you though this offroading can be a rabbit hole once your'e in. I already want a more lift, bigger tires and different gears. You might even see this package on Tacoma world for sale. I have all winter to re-build. Good luck

If I simply wanted to level the front of my 2016, would using the 2" notch on the 5100's do the trick? Any experience on how much these would cost to pay for install?

should work on second notch, if you had bigger coils 0 setting would be best

    That'll do! I don't have a garage at home--2 hr. install?

depends, whats the situation on your coils and shocks? Like off the truck and all?

Do you have any weight up front or anything?

I'm new here, so bear with me and all the questions :) When I level the front, how much effective "lift" does that really give? Is it essentially a lift at all, or more less just providing me with more front clearance?

well when you lift with things like 5100s and stock coils you loose travel when gaining lift. Thats why people go with coilers so they can have the travel and the lift. I hd 5100s with 887 coils to get 3 inch of lift and the shock was at 0 setting. Little harsh off road. Again I might be wrong. But if you are just chilling and not thrashing the truck then 5100s with coils are good.

    Better than a spacer

New member here and am looking to get a 17 TRD Off-Road DCSB soon and would like to lift it after owning it for sometime. However, I haven't a clue when it comes to lifting and suspensions. Ideally, I would like to run Nitto Terra Grappler G2 265/70R17 tires on XD822 Monster II wheels with -12mm offset in the future. What would an ideal lift be in order to ride these tires/wheels? I've been reading around the forums and it seems like a lot of people run Bilstein 5100 shocks in the front at 2.5'' and then AALs in the rear.

I'm not sure if this was covered before, I'm thinking about getting a set of King coils with TC upper arms for the front but I'm a little confused with regards to the two tipes, OEM and extended lengths, could somebody explain that please?
