    Hey guys,

I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma, V6, Manual Transmission, with a manual 4x4 shifter. I've used the 4x4 when I first bought the truck several years ago. However, about a year ago the shifter got stuck in 2WD. Essentially, I can't even move the shift lever out of H2...it won't move down to H4 no matter how much force I apply. Any Ideas?

    Much appreciated.

clutch in, in neutral, does it feel like it "wants" to move or is it frozen in place?

It feels like it wants to move, but just can't quite budge enough

My truck only did that once, except I was in 4H and it wouldn't go up int 2H. All I did was roll a few feet forward and then it pushed up fine. You said its been a few years, have you ever changed the front diff oil? Don't really know if that would cause it but it just a though.

Should definitely be using 4wd for a few miles every month to make sure everything stays working properly.

Yeah, you typically have to roll forward (or backwards) a few feet to get it to engage or disengage. If that doesn't work, maybe you have some bent linkages.

Or, maybe a rodent fell in your transfer case and locked everything up (kidding).
