The general consensus around here is "keep it stock, it's already a CAI." But, if you must, check out one of the big box kits like Volant, TRD, etc. There's a whole lot of snake oil in CAI giving you bolt-on performance. If you're doing it for fuel mileage, you might gain 1.5-2mpg, but driving habits will always outweigh (and be cheaper) than any bolt-on product.

    Here's my experience: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/volant-cai-scoop-install-on-13-2wd-dcsb-trd-sport.360576/

the new "trd" with the plastic cover made by k&n/aem.... runs lean

Urd isnt fun in the rain unless you run the hydrophobic sock which can effect performance. And make sure your ok with cutting sheet metal.

K&n uses oil which has been known to coat the maf sensor and throttle body plate which can cause issues.

Volant with or without the scoop should be safe, i heard they fixed their design.

Also AFE stage 2 si has had years of happy customers here and on xr-underground.com
The afe is loud in the cabin unless you have a blower (in that case it is somehow much quieter).

I took my KnR off and went back to stock... want to buy mine? :D

Besides the minimal to none performance increases the KnR gave me, all it did was "sound throatier" as well as vibrate like a motherfucker which was annoying as hell.

Unless you want to spend real money for a real CAI, stick with what you have.

(My KnR was on the truck when I bought it and after only 2 months had to go)

The urd does not pull colder air than k&n at approx 40mph. They both pull ambient air.
    Just like stock.

Check it with scangauge, ultragauge, or torque app if u dont believe me.
I did, i tested the k&n, urd, afe, stock, afe with port open and closed, and my buddies volant with scoop.

All draw ambient air around 40mph.... you cant get colder than ambient with just an intake.
Urd can give u more idle cold air tho

Deaver 2" AAL in rear w/ axle shims. 285 x 75 r 16 Goodyear Duratracks. Wheelers steelies type B, AFE cold air intake. Sway bar delete. Oh no, not another one of these.

Try this, buy a small refrigerator and seal the door with duck tape. Use a large hole saw to cut two holes, one in the front and one in the top. Cut a circular hole on the top of the hood. Mount the fridge on the top of the vehicle hood using whatever hardware you have laying around. Route the stock intake hose up, through the hood, and in to the fridge. Run a short extension cord to the outlet in the bed of the truck. Stock the fridge with cold beer. Enjoy your new cold beer intake system.
