yup, buybacks were only for the early model years. 01+ they replaced frames if the requirements were met.

'07 TRD sport access cab w/ 90k miles. Truck originally from AK, now in CO, so not great for corrosion (salted roads)

Made an appointment for an inspection at LHM Boulder Toyota for Jan 11th. I wouldn't have looked for it if my brother didn't send me a link to the class action lawsuit.

What do y'all think? Looks like that special "new frame" kind of rust to me.

Rusted frame, busted dreams, TRD floor mats, disappointment mod.
My sad story: Bought a nice, "low mileage" (108K) 2005 Tacoma Access Cab TRD Offroad from a dealer in PA on 12/8/16. On 12/20/16 it failed VA inspection due to frame rust. The dealer had disguised the frame rust and we'll be seeing each other in court in the next few months, but I have some recent scoop on the class action suit: settlement will be announced on 4/22/17. Got that straight from Toyota Motor Sales, USA.

Yours looks pretty decent. This is the hole that failed mine and resulted in new frame.

the lawsuit settlement will be released around April 25th. In the USA the frame warranty is 12 years from inservice date.

Brought my 2006 in on the last day of the recall (3/31/16) and got it back in mid-October. When I brought it in, I didn't know they would have to take possession of the vehicle. But they said they would give me a new RAV4 as a loaner for the duration at no charge, so I accepted the deal. Toyota's bill for my loaner would later come to $9,500 and the frame work was valued at around $12,000. I was also able to get them to replace the battery and a complete front brake job (with new calipers and rotors) for no charge because of how long it sat on their lot waiting for the frame to arrive.

I couldn't be happier with the end result of getting 12K+ in free shit for an 11 year old vehicle.

15 years from in service date. So lets say you bought it new in March 1st 2007, after CRC application frame would be warrantied until March 1st 2022

You can BET that they didn't pay out $9500 for the loaner... considering that that is more than that vehicle costs them to manufacture!

I feel the same way, got the frame on my 2006 replaced as well. I was thinking of getting rid of the truck but now I am keeping it until it falls apart again, bought mine used and paid it off early shortly after I got the new frame. Been slowly upgrading everything else on the truck since then.

    Hey all,

It's been a bit since I last posted but I'm checking in again.

So while I had been able to get my truck back from Toyota free of charge, I'm still keeping tacomaproblems.com up & running as a source of info. Not sure if a lot of you have seen it but a legal notice was just mailed out about the class action lawsuit & settlement.

I'm wondering how many people are going through the motions of submitting claims if you've done any work on the frames prior to the recall?

Here's the details on that legal notice.

I got the notice in the mail today. I plan on calling Mon. My truck was inspected and sprayed last March. The CRC is flaking off and there is rust underneath. There is no way that the dealership properly cleaned and prepped my frame.

So the truck that I bought last year that's spent 90% of it's life in little/no salt environment will be left with no help from Toyota. This is pretty much my understanding of the whole deal.
