I can't figure this one out. For awhile I figured it was just snow/debris coming up off the tire. But it's not that. It sounds more distinct - more 'inside' the cab - than that. It also makes the noise while at a dead stop if I pump the brakes hard and get the body to roll a bit.

It seems more connected to cab movement than anything else. Not necessarily suspension. ... if that makes sense.

It also only seems to happen when it's really cold out.

Can the cab mounts get cold and stiff? Something like that..? I have no idea...

I know I never heard this noise last winter, and the only thing that has changed since last winter are ST Maxx tires and weld-on sliders.

If I stand on the sliders and rock the truck, the sound does not happen.
It also happens on both sides. I've only recorded the driver-side, but the same sound is coming from passenger as well.

Have you checked the cab mount bushings? How do they look?
It does sound like it could be them.
Did you check torque on suspension just to be sure?

I know -20 weather can cause crazy shit to happen on vehicles. I hated trying to diagnose what was going on when i lived there. Sucks.

Not really sure what to look for, but I'll look into it. I know people smarter than myself.

Yes, it seems cold related. I chunked off all of the ice I could find - especially the stuff built up between the slider and cab. Checked suspension and behind tires. Stuck my fingers up into the cab mount to clean them out. Nothing helped.

I remember in a truck I had previous to this one I had washed it.it didn't take much but it had water freeze way down between the cab and box.very difficult to get out. That time also had squeak in windshield.Dealer took it in heated garage over night.Stopped the cab noise but not windshield.Hope that is all it is.

I'm really tempted to take to the car wash to warm it up and get all the ice. But it's like 2 degrees out today, and washing it at this temp would probably cause more harm than good.

You may want to check that your pinch weld isnt touching your sliders. Seen that before

Only if you put in garage at night.we are -22 cel. With a wind chill of -38.I would take the air compresser hose at the car wash after you washed it and try blowing the water out of there. That is if you decide to wash it .other than making sure it is warm I would not take a chance yet

I just don't wash it when it's this cold. We have a warmup coming in the next couple days though, so I'll clean it off.

I'm guessing the noise will go away. Given the symptoms and what I'm reading here, I'm guessing it's water getting up somewhere and freezing.

The sliders are a good inch from the cab - so there's no rubbing. But like I said, they're one of the few things that are new... so I've tried to think of how they could make this sound, but I can't think of anything.

Most likely ice or rubbing since you didn't have it before.Oh and I got ice in the wheels once after a wash and that made a noise.got rid of it but think it just melted or highway driving took it off..Really hope that it is something simple as noise is very annoying on your ride.
