Just wanted to give a shout out to WeatherTech for having such great customer service. I had ordered from them in the past and all their products were installed and worked perfectly. However, I purchased their custom headlight protection film last week and installed it Saturday.

The install was anything but easy on the Tacoma lenses, as we all know they are very rounded. After spending over 2 hours on the install I had got the film on the best I could but I was not at all happy with the end result. I had followed the instructions to a "t", but could not get all the air bubbles out.

So, I emailed WeatherTech's customer service Saturday night and told them that I am a very picky person and was just not completely satisfied with the end result. I expected to hear from them sometime this week but was pleasantly surprised when I received an email response Sunday afternoon, New Years Day. Beth, their CSR, stated she was sorry I was not happy with the product and that she would be issuing me a full refund! That was it, no questions asked! It is not everyday that I deal with a company like this.

I believe that the protection film is a good product, but because it is 15m thick and the Tacoma lenses are soo rounded, it is just really difficult to get it to lay completely flat without air bubbles. And maybe there are others who have installed on their Tacoma's with no issues, I don't know. And, not everyone is OCD like me!

I encourage anyone who is looking for a product that WeatherTech carries to purchase from them. You'll have piece of mind to know that they do stand behind their products, and as they say on their website they do want to keep all their customers happy. I know I'll be purchasing some new floor mats from them very soon!

I wonder if they need to be heated before and during install, the skins that is.

Jim, I did heat the film and lenses before and during the install. I did the install in my garage, it was about 65º in there.

Yea it does. Where I live due to blowing sand headlights get beat up pretty badly and this film would have been the solution to that problem. I just could not live with the end result, it would have driven me crazy everytime I looked at them.

Maybe you'll have better luck than I did. I do believe that the lenses on our trucks are probably the hardest ones to install this product on. Maybe if the film was not as thick it would work better, but than that kinda defeats the purpose.

I'm going to give this a shot tomorrow. I'm fairly experienced in applying this type of material for boats and kayaks. I am also heavy on OCD, so I'll be trying to work every single bubble out too.

I have also had great customer service from WeatherTech. They send me a new pair of in-channel visors after I cracked mine trying to install.
