It might seem like it but I pulled a TSB list from the 2nd Gen during the first couple of years and it seems similar.

    AU001-05 FEB 06 Audio System - Amplifier Won't Turn OFF/Battery Drain
AU001-06 FEB 07 Audio System - Quick Reference Diagnostic Guide
    BO001-06 JAN 06 Body - Front/Rear Window Runs Deformed
BO003-05 MAR 05 Body - Overfender Refinishing Process
BO004-05 APR 05 Body - Water Leaks Onto Front Floor
BO018-07 NOV 07 Body - Bent Rear Tailgate
BO022-06 NOV 06 Interior - Driver's Side Lower Dash Panel Poor Fit
EG011-07 JUL 07 Engine Controls - Intermittent No Start Condition
EG021-06 APR 06 Exhaust System - Ticking Noise Between 2,000-2,500 RPM
EG043-05 MAY 06 Fuel System - MIL ON/DTC's/No Start in Extreme Cold
EG046-06 AUG 06 Intake System - Air Intake Hose Rattle
NV003-06 MAR 06 Body - Front End Rattle/Squeak on Bumps
NV004-06 MAY 06 Interior - Front Seat Squeak Noise
NV006-07 AUG 07 Body - Windshield Wind Noise at Highway Speeds
    NV007-05 JUN 05 Body - Front/Rear Popping/Knocking Noise on Rough Roads

Majority of the issues was on the 2016 which were the first ones off the line but you still might see an issue with the 2017 here and there.

I wonder how painful it is to import from Canada to the States. With how shitty our dollar is right now, a Manual Trans Access-Cab Off Road would equate to about $30K USD...

If it's what you want, you should definitely get it. It is a pretty good feeling when you constantly look back your truck just cause

Shit if you're importing might as well try to make it a diesel maybe from some other country

Well Shaker driving from Ohio to Toronto wouldn't cost as much as shipping a truck from across the pond, but if you had to jump through holes like importing into Canada, I agree. Does the US not allow out of country vehicles under 25yrs old like up here?

Plus the cost diff and resale value makes the DC a no brainer

I traded my 2015 Tacoma SR5 v6 PreRunner in for my 2016 Tacoma TRD off road 4x4 and never looked back.

The interior is WAYYY nicer and more up to date than the 2nd gen. Don't get me wrong, I liked my 2nd gen also but it was 2wd and I need/wanted 4wd.

Issues I've had with my 3rd gen...

    • transmission was pretty shift happy so I had the dealership do the transmission update. It seems to have made it better.

•entune stereo has intermittent connection issues on the pandora app.

the way I see it...if something messes up..it's under warranty. My warranty goes 10yr 100k miles so I'm not concerned.

The warranty will be good in case of a catastrophic failure but I haven't found it worthwhile for fixing many of the annoyances and intermittent issues that surface. For the other stuff Toyota dealer says it's normal or they're working on a fix and a TSB is coming at some point but no time frame or estimate for completion

My truck is quiet in front windows and feel like the back window is opened all the time. Even though it's sealed/closed.
