Hey guys, first time post and I got a couple question, surprise eh?!

So I have a 09’ Tacoma ex cab, its pretty much perfect, I put the time in to take good care of it, I dont put many miles on it, so Ill be keeping it for a while... but it had a encounter with a non movable object on my property, so I figured I might as well do the 2015 front end, since its not much more than putting her back to her former glory.

Ive read the thread on the swap and I just want to make sure Im on the right page, and also ask about the couple extra parts I might need due to the damage.

    So…

    -1-HOOD-

Ordered one of the new generic 2015 replacements off ebay that are already primed, its from car parts wholesale, seem to have good feedback, too bad there arent any nice carbon non useless scoop options, wouldnt as much want the look, but the weight savings would be cool, ether way 190 bucks for a few hood is a good deal as long as its as good as they say this thing is.

2-BUMPER W/WO FOG LIGHTS AND REINFORCEMENT BAR

Thinking of getting one of these “kits” thoughts?

I wont be running a front license plate, since I don’t chase police cars much, thus I’m looking for one without any holes or anything, are these generics OK, or are they junk compared to OEM?

Seems like this is almost everything I need for the rest of it right?

    .

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2015-TACOMA-FRONT-BUMPER-PRIMED-END-GRILLE-FILLER-REBAR-BRACKET-W-HOLE-12PC/171329182940?_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=38530&meid=9dae8d57619b4309be6befe46d6a1f66&pid=100623&rk=2&rkt=6&sd=201089972254

I, will order the OEM fog light fillers, and I also just ordered the XB LED projectors from TRS, question is since the lower piece of the bumper/grill appears to be meant to be left as bare plastic, should I buy that part OEM too??

    3-RH/LH HEADLIGHTS

Just got two brand new 2015 SR5 "take offs" from a dealer on ebay, 180 each, damn :annoyed:

    4-FRONT GRILL

Bought a 2015 TRD Pro grill

I also bought a chrome bezel, I know its the PRO look, but Im not as much trying to make a clone, as I like the more subdued oldschool look of the Pro grille

    5-BUMPER FILLERS RH.LH

Seems to be included in the ebay bumper kit

Now which of these do I still need??

    52531-04010 RETAINER, BUMPER FIL28.17

    52125-04020 EXTENSION, FR BUMPER124.42
    52126-04020 EXTENSION, FR BUMPER124.42
    52521-04050 RETAINER, FR BUMPER134.37
    53273-04030 BRACKET, FR BUMPER A122.86
    53274-04030 BRACKET, FR BUMPER A122.86
    53510-04040 LOCK ASSY, HOOD136.33
    53209-04020 BRACE SUB-ASSY, HOOD125.94
    90084-54011 CUSHION, HOOD2.89
    90959-01136 HOOD CLAMP35.33
    53271-0B010 BRACKET, HEADLAMP27.99

    52522-04010 RETAINER, FR BUMPERx2
    53935-04020 PROTECTOR, FR END PAx2

    anything else??

For the damaged parts, seems like I might need a few pieces, already ordered a new OEM skid plate, but it looks like Ill need #7 and #2 as well, are these just plug and play bolt ons?

For paint, would it be best to have the parts painted before assembly, Id take them to a place that works on new damaged toyotas right off the shipping trucks, Id also bring the damaged hood in with the new parts so they could confirm paint match.

    Thoughts?? Comments???

    THANKS!
    5NT

I'm honestly not sure. Can you link the other thread that you are referring to? I am making assumptions. I honestly didn't know this was possible until today.

Think I have a game plan on the swap.

Anyone know if the damaged parts (#7 & #2) are bolt ons, or if I'm going to need my drill and welder??

Not much advice for you except that if you paint the parts before installation be very sure not to damage them. The bumper you'll have to paint off either way unless you want a poor mask job. And if your paint code is 202 straight black you shouldn't need to bring any panels in for color match. Looks black in the photos but pictures can be deceiving.

    ---Update---
So I ordered the ebay kit, everything seems good with it, I am still waiting on the lower brackets and the plastic filler parts (lower bumper and the fog fillers) which I got OEM.

The grill seems to line up dead nuts as do the OEM headlights, but the center bracket seems like maybe it should stick out further?

Is this part different between the pre and post 2012s?

    53029B (bottom right)

The damage to the light mounting ear of the radiator core support, Im just going to straighten and repaint it, even being as OCD as I am it just seems like a fix over a replace, and Im sure I can get it to the point you wont be able to tell.

    All stripped
    [IMG]

some of the new parts, and one factory black skid plate I need to strip and repaint
    [IMG]

Huh.... again its just finger tight and I dont have the lower brackets, but...thoughts on that center attachment point on the plastic bumper???
Also planning on replacing those two grill screws with SS ones

These front fender flare caps that go on the bumper, are they sposed to have a rubber edging on them like the fender side of the flares? (forgive the dirty paint ;) )

Also got the paint priced out, painting the hood, bumper, fillers and flare caps in spies hecker paint, factory code 0209 BLKSD, which I guess isnt waterbased, with them also seem sealing the hood, comes out to 800 bucks,

Looking good. As far as the rubber edging goes? I dont really know but if it isn't plastic on metal I doubt it. Rubber just is there to stop them from warring through and rusting on the fenders.

Well it's been a while, but I thought I'd update, got the conversion all done (skid isn't installed in the pic though), I did find a few little things I didn't see mentioned on the other threads.

1 you need two brackets not mentioned often, they are the plastic brackets that hold the front lower part of the head lights, you also be a little bracket, screw and nylon nut that the front part of the filler below the headlight clips into (one for each side)

2 the plugs for the fogs ARE NOT THE SAME, I got the LED projectors for the 2015, ended up getting some weather proof connectors and using them (solder and crimp) instead of the OEM

3 noticed there are not any fog align instructions, you want to park the truck 25' from a wall, measure the height of the fogs off the ground (24" for me), go to the wall and put a mark 4" below that, so for me it was 20" up, set your cut off to that.

4 the 4 hood bolts are tapered and center align, you're going to need new non taper bolts (per Toyota hood alignment instructions) to get things looking OEM, also smart to keep a little vial of paint from your hood and bumper to paint the bolt heads after you're squared.

5, forget ordering ANY brackets by year, every place screws it up, find a new style Tacoma, write down its VIN and use that, for some reason parts people get it right off a VIN but it's like a monkey humping a football when you give them year and model.

    After (minus TRD skid)

New wire connector since the pre and post facelift ones are diffrent.
