Hows the firefly CB antenna? I'm putting together a shopping cart on Amazon and comparing the firestik to the firefly

I would totally love 8-12 except my 2016 is in the shop for what I think is the crankshaft position sensor. They gave me a Rav4 for a rental. Totally not comfortable in that thing lol

It is good. Haven't really gotten to use it on the trail, just road.
I have a 4' and 5' sitting in the basement. If those are either that you were wanting, don't buy them. I have them.
I have a 3' on the truck that seems to be giving me the best numbers on the SWR.

(sorry James, saw this later after you posted. Wasn't avoiding you.)

Not sure. It died on Christmas Eve and got it to Balise on Monday. Still haven't heard back from them yet so I'm guessing they still haven't exactly figured it out. I'm going to call them today.

I am looking at the 3' and 4' antennas, not sure which yet. Seems like 3' might just be a tad short, but lots of people run them?

    Damn. Good luck. :fingerscrossed:
Exactly what I thought too. The 3' is about half clear from the top of the shell and they say about 2/3rds should be clear. The 4' was about perfect but the radio didn't seem to pair well with it. It is yours if you want to try it. The 5' was really too heavy for the bracket. Need to sell that guy.

Thats weird the 4' didn't pair well, you couldn't get good SWR readings? All this stuff is kind of nonsense to me! The one I have at the moment is literally plug and play, no tuning possible.

This communications science is way beyond me!

Thank you for the offer! I'd definitely take it, but I'm not sure when I'll be headed out your way in the near future. May be worth me splurging the $20 on Amazon.

I hear ya. Right after I got it all hooked up, plugged the SWR in and was frustrated by the numbers. Then I took a time out and came back.
    Went better after that.
I was surprised that the 4' didn't give me better numbers too.
If you don't take it I may putter with it in the spring. Right now the 3' works well. Was listening to the truck drivers on 87 when I was heading to tday at the in-laws. What a bunch of potty mouths. Had to turn it down with my 4 y.o. in the back. He was storing up new words, I could tell.

On Amazon, there is a vendor named Blue Parrot. Has been good to work with. Very fast shipping. Got most of my stuff through them.

Turns out the items in my cart are already from Blue Parrot

Again, the science behind all this is mind boggling for me. I was reading that antenna placement can effect the performance of the antenna, so an antenna placed behind the cab will perform differently when placed on the tailgate or hood. I'll be doomed! :bananadead:

Maybe we could meet with Tony @Boston10Taco in Greenfield for a day trip of wheeling and get the antenna installed as well? or head south to @tacobell007 Drew? some weekend in January?

Yeah, proximity to other antennae will throw it off. Very finicky.
That sounds good. I would be up for doing that. Let me know.

Selling my winter wheels and tires. Since the leveling kit these seem a little small. Used 1 season, general altimax 245/75/16 .34" of tread left. New tires have .375" of tread depth. Steel rims have no rust but some light scratches. No tpms. Come with lug nuts.
    Asking $500
