My exhaust is not loud enough

    3'' lift and striaght pipes!
I have a flowmast 40 series dumped under my truck. It sounds alright when I get on it, but is quiet most of the time. Unless you listened close, you could'nt tell I have aftermarket exhaust. The pipe after the muffler is very short and after reading the flowmaster book I noticed it did not meet the minimum length suggested. Would getting a longer turndown pipe help?

I was also wondering if I should get tips and run duals. It cost a great deal more and if I did that, I would want to be able to tell a pretty good difference. I have seen some people say they have URD Y pipes, but those seem kinda expensive. I was debating if I should try a magnaflow or a new muffler, but I just do not know. My previous trucks had V8s so all they needed was a simple flowmaster. I am just trying to find a way to make my truck have a better, deeper sound than it does now. Thanks for your help.

The headers would make it louder and a bit raspy as well.

Im surprised your exhuast isnt loud enough. I dont know if you like it raspy or ricey. But I just got a flowmaster 40series. with 2.25 from the cata to the muffler and then 2.5 back to a 3inch stainless tip.

It isnt like really LOUD like a straightpiped civic or anything. But it is deep, clean and sounds good. High rev'd it doesnt rasp at all. its deep and pure. Honestly i love it.

Like i said, it isnt super loud, but it is just right for me. Once i get K&N intake and then some headers, it'll rip real good.

How much would straight pipes slow my truck down?

Would headers or a Y pipe give me more hp gains and sound?

Doesn't reducing back pressure = more performance?

Ah.. I was always taught that straight pipes produce enough back pressure to not cause performance loss.. Learn something everyday I guess :D

I'm a fan of glass-packs.. Straight through design, they sound good and they don't break the bank.

So does everyone think I should keep the exhaust I have and just get headers?
