So I'm prepped to install my ECGS bushing, I have the removal tool, the bushing, and borrowed a driver set from Parts Source. The only thing I'm missing is how to actually install the fucking thing. I've done a lot of searching Google + Tacoma world and I can't seem to find a full write-up of the whole process. If anybody can point me to a video or a write-up I would be extremely grateful.

Cool thanks. Is there a list of shit other than the seal that I may need to replace? Clamp for the boot? Diff oil? Also a link to what exactly l
I'll need to disassemble. Do I need to remove the entire cv from the hub and diffential? What sockets are necessary? I'm really surprised no one has made a COMPLETE write up of this.

I had mine done at ECGS. @Crom just did it on his truck so hopefully he'll jump in.

Assuming you're doing the driver's side, jack up the front of your truck. Put a jack stand under the frame to keep the driver's side front wheel off the ground. Take the driver's side front wheel off. Leave the passenger side wheel on.
    Remove the lower strut nut.

Support the spindle with a floor jack and remove the bottom two ball joint bolts. Let some pressure off the jack so the lower control arm can fall a bit. Punch out the lower strut bolt.

At this point, you can pry the axle shaft out of the front differential. This can be a bit of a booger if you don't have the right pry bar. A 12" wonder bar won't do it. You'll need something a couple of feet long. Watch some youtube videos on this part. I left my axle shaft attached to the hub and just pulled the whole unit forward. I held it forward and out of the way with a ratchet strap. You don't have to put much tension in the strap, I just needed something that wouldn't stretch. Put a catch pan under the differential because you'll lose a little bit of fluid.

Remove the bearing, tap the new one in. It my not go completely flush with the surface it rides in because it's a little longer than the needle bearing. Mine stuck out about 1/16" or so. This is ok.

Wipe off the end of the axle shaft, lube it up, smear some lube inside of the bushing and push the axle shaft back in. I had a little trouble getting mine to seat so I used a big brass punch and hammer from underneath the truck. There are some notches on the big part of the axle shaft near the front diff where you can get some traction with the brass punch.

Once the axle shaft is back in place, jack the lower control arm back up to where you can get the lower strut bolt back in. Install the bolt and put the nut on finger tight.

Now, jack the control arm up to where you can get the lower ball joint bolts back in. Use red thread locker on these two bolts. This is also the point that you will need the passenger side tire to be on the ground to keep the truck from rocking too much while you are compressing the driver side strut with the jack on the lower control arm. Put the two bolts in and torque the accordingly. Honestly, I just leaned on them for a couple of seconds with my impact gun set on it's medium setting. You really should torque them properly.

Re-fill the front diff with the lube of your flavor, install the wheel and remove the jack stand.

Set the truck on the ground and torque the lower strut nut to the proper torque. It's best to torque this with the truck at ride height.

Double check everything and take your new quiet truck for a test drive!

I didn't replace the seal and have had no problems with it. YMMV. Total process took me about 3 hours with the toughest part being the removal of the axle shaft from the front diff. Once I got the right pry bar, it popped right out.

Sorry I don't have the torque specs off hand but you can find them in one of the stickies listed above here.

Above all, BE SAFE!! If you're going to be under the truck, make sure you have it supported really well and use your parking brake.

Let us know how it turns out!

I used a slide hammer I rented from advanced to get
My cv axel out. Mine come out Super easy. Make sure you have a rubber hose of some sort to fit over the cone spout on the diff oil bottle. I had a long skinny funnel
And that wasn't long enough. I wish I had got a seal, mine tore just a tiny bit. Guess I'll replace that at some point.

    Nope. Does not exist.

I collected a few links to other how-tos and found it sufficient.

I wrote my experience in my build.

Thanks everyone. Right after my last post I said fuck it and started. I just pieced together all the info on here and YouTube. Just tightening up all the stuff together now. What a pain in the ass.

No one really mentioned anywhere that the seal on the diff needs a special tool for install. I got pissed and used a 1/2" thick 16" long stick and pounded it in slowly around the brim. Less than ideal but it did the job. Bottom line if the seal looks good, don't fuck with it. This thing has a metal brim under the rubber that makes it a bitch to install.
Things I did to make my life easier.
    1. Made a install tool for the piece of the removal tool that goes in behind the needle bearing. What this wire "tool" allowed me to do was have some articulation on the puller piece so I could very easily situate it in place then just push, twist and pull the wire out. 20170115_164455.jpg 20170115_200017.jpg 20170115_200011.jpg 20170115_195937.jpg

    2. I used a block of steel against the diff to give me more leverage when removing the cv. I'll post pics tomorrow of what I mean.
    3. I couldn't really find any info on how to reinsert the cv shaft into the diff. Looked at a couple of YouTube vids and found my answer in the comments section.
"use a stick with some rags against the boot of the cv shaft and tap until seated."
Overall happy with the results. I'll have to post back once I drive it with feeling in my toes.

Fuck. Just read over @Crom's link about his install and my cv shaft looked similar. Looks like I'll be headed to the dealership soon....

Hell At least it's over. I drank a lot of beer and celebrated after I did the test drive with no more vibes. It was a good feeling.

I was dreading doing the install. But it went fairly decent besides a few things being a pain in the ass. glad I got that over with. Far from done with the truck tho.

I'll see if I can make some time tomorrow. There are a few write ups that lead down the road of the install but in a round about way (cv replace, hub replace ect) it would have been nice to have it layed out as a step by step.
