Was looking at this exact HU. What did it run you for it and all the necessary extras if you don't mind?

That actually looks really clean, I like it! I couldn't care less about the Navigation or Phone Calls on the gauges. I'm guessing that's the install kit that Crutchfield included for buying the radio?

Oh, What about the factory Bluetooth Mic? Does it still work?

Yes that's the install kit from Crutchfield and it looks great.

The factory Bluetooth mic won't work anymore but I ran the mic and cable that came with the radio and put it in the exact location of the factory mic so it looks built in also. Just pop out the factory mic in the overhead compartment and put the new mic there. It came with just enough cord.

    A word of advice...

Get the Scosche double din fit kit for our trucks. They use metal brackets and have a beautiful fit and finish in comparison to metra, which uses plastic brackets.

Next, Carplay requires you to plug in your phone into the headunit via HDMI cable. If you want to do a wireless screenlink style option which autoconnects upon power up of the unit, I would highly suggest you look into getting a Chromecast module. It may take some configuration, as well as a wifi hotspot to make the chromecast work.

What about all the truck options on the existing head unit? Like door unlock sequence, auto headlight sensitivity, etc? Those are all adjusted in the old headunit.

What about your steering wheel button controls, can you still answer the phone, or bring up siri with the voice command button?

With the maestro unit looks like I have retained those truck options except the one I can't find is where you decide what doors unlock when touching the driver handle. Other than that I think the others are there.

Yes with maestro unit I have retained all steering wheel controls. With the maestro device you can decide what buttons do what as it requires you to program it before you can install it. The voice button below the volume up button now gives me Siri when you press and hold it.

Beat Sonic has a iphone mirroring kit for the 16 tacoma. It pretty much mirrors everything you do on your iphone. I don't think you can control it with your car monitor though...

I forgot to mention that the harness from Crutchfield also includes the adapter to keep the factory USB port on the truck so you can use this port to plug your lightening cable into to activate CarPlay if you want.image.jpg

Ohhh I didn't realize it was a 3rd gen we were referring to. It may be helpful to chck though the truck is too new for a whole lot of stuff to be out for it for now.

How much data off your Android phone are you using having this connected while driving with gps etc. ? I know this is a vague question as it depends on what apps you use. Just wanted to get an idea because my phone plan is 3gb per month right now.
The 8200 has a GPS head but it is $$$ !
    Thks.

So last week I installed my new Pioneer 8200NEX radio and with that radio I figured you cant have the stock crappy Toyota speakers so decide to upgrade and got 4 new speakers! JBL GT7-96's 6"x9 3 way speakers for the front and JBL GT7-6 6 3/4 speakers for the rear. Sounds so much better than factory, it's unbelievable how a good speaker can make that much of a difference. All the tinny sound from the factory speakers is all gone!

Did you have to use a voltage converter to retain the factory back up camera?
