    Hey All,

Reasons for posting my Modest Build:
    • Track my basic mods
    • Get feedback on planned mods(I will compile the answers to my questions here)
    • Help anyone who also plans a modest build.
Seems most builds here are badass and hardcore. As much as I love seeing what you all do, it's not practical for me nor am I capable enough. Maybe there are others in my boat that want to do minor upgrades.

Truck Purpose: Daily driver and weekend adventures. I explore BLM land, do some shooting, and light camping in the summer. Truck is plenty capable with stock suspension, but I'd like it lifted just a bit more with improved dampening, load capacity, and a little more travel.

I'm not a mechanic, and I'm not great at working on vehicles. I learn more every day though. If I can figure out and do some things to my truck, then anyone can.

    Current:

    Suspension: Stock

    Wheels & Tires:
    • SCS Stealth 6 Dark Matte Bronze in 17 by 8.5.
    • 265/70 R17 KO2 C Load(had minor rub. removed flaps and minor trimming)
    Inside:
    • Husky X-act Contour Floor Rubbers(front and back)
    Outside:
    • Rokblokz oversized flaps(rear still be installed). These guys were awesome to work with. I lost one spacer and they sent out a new one with some stickers and a coozy. No cost to me, and it was my fault. I know this cause i later found the spacer sitting on my desk under a paper. I suck.
    • Snugtop Shell. Super nice, fits well, color matches, though I don't think the lines fit the lines of the truck as much as I hoped.
    • Debadged!!!!!!!!! Plastic chrome glued to painted metal...

    Planned Improvements:

    Bed:
    • 4x Innovations double quick fist mounts for Tacoma bed rails(mount axe and shovel)
    Suspension
    • OME 883x springs(only want 1-1.5" of lift)
    • Front: OME struts 90021 or 5100's
    • Rear: OME or 5100's
    • Leaf Pack: OME Dakars with top overload and 3rd leaf removed(shooting for 1.5" of lift, better load capacity, and better travel

    Reserved for my QandA

    Questions:

I would like to go OME shocks all around, but I've read the struts don't always fit 2015's. If i have to grind a little bit, what can be used to clean up and refinish the grinded metal to avoid rust?

I've looked and looked, but I cannot find a photo of a DCSB running Dakars with top overload removed and 3rd leaf removed as well as 883x springs. Anyone have any photos?

Pretty much in the same exact boat with you. my 2015 dcsb is my daily driver but i do take it off road every once in awhile for fishing or camping. i wanted to change a couple things such as wheels and tires, and level it out. so far ive replaced the front grille with a blk one from a trd sport, had my rear chrome bumper powder coated black and clear coated, replaced the headlights with hids, put in yellow fog leds, did the fog light mod, put on a hidden 30" light bar in the front bumper, replaced the front shocks with bilstein 5100's and set them to the 1.75 mark, put 1" blocks in the rear and just put on 17x9 mickey thompsons with 265/70r17 cooper discoverer at/3. the last hing i would like to do is replace the rear shocks with bilstein 5100's just so they all match. one thing i noticed is my new tires rub slightly on the front mud flaps when at full lock and backing up, i see you took yours off, do you have any issues with rocks chipping your paint? im on the fence about removing them. ive read my paint will get chipped and it will rust faster from throwing salt up under everything. thoughts?

Tacojuan I was concerned about rocks chipping up my paint as well with the front flaps off. I actually have Rokblokz flaps on the front currently. That photo was taken before the flaps were put on and after pulling the stock ones off.

I still rubbed with flaps off and had to trim a little plastic.

I'll take pic with flaps and get it posted up.

I like the Snugtops. Unfortunately the local dealer quoted me $2,500 installed with the features I want. :(

Pyrite Mica for sure! I wish I had the skills to do half of what you have done to your truck. Very nice ride you have! BTW I'm still living 1999, so "soo 2016" is the future for me man. No topper for you. :p

1" lift from 3rd gen suspension, 265/75/16 ATs
    Very nice, clean and tasteful.

Pretty much the same mods as my truck. I just picked up cheap 3rd gen zero miles take off suspension which should give me about 1" of front lift. Was planning to go 883/5100@0, but will give this a try for 1/3 of the price and if all goes well will do 883/5100 next go around when this one is worn out.
