Thinking about getting one of these for my wife...anyone know if they have automatic rear tailgate?

She currently has a 09 Pilot (Touring model) and really likes that feature.

Unless it's been an option since I bought my '14 Limited, the 4Runner does not offer a power or automatic tailgate.

If she's wanting that and wants to stay in the Toyota family and similar size I think you'll need to look at a Highlander or Lexus RX.

This is my first SUV having owned trucks and cars in the past and I'm hooked on the 4Runner (I'm a fan of body on frame in trucks and SUVs). But, I think Highlanders are pretty nice and the new ones (including the RX) have some additional safety equipment NOT currently offered on the 4Runner.

Thanks. She doesn't like the crossover SUVs...says they look too much like vans.

    Sounds like my kinda girl.

I think certain (maybe all) versions of the Sequoia and the Lexus GS come with it. Of course the GX, like the 4Runner, Lexus LX and Land Cruiser, is based on the same Prada Toyota Platform so NOT crossovers. :D

No power rear gate on the 4runners.
I'd personally go for a Trail Premium over a Pro(unless you keep it 100% stock) or Limited. Limited does get an AWD system which can be nice

I like my Limited tho it's not a off-road as I'd like to think I need. I do like the full time torsion type 4x4 as well as locking lo and hi 4x4.

Pro is a beauty and very capable. I dislike the front end and chrome on the limited.

Agree 100%. I bought my TRD with every intention of leaving it stock. Didn't last very long.

I had both Pro and Limited . Two totally different vehicles especially with the limited is more of a street dewellering creature comfort 4runner .

The TRD Pro is its back woods cousin that is less refined and likes to play in the dirt .

I had a 2016 TRD Pro was a great truck but as others have posted if your going to leave it totally stock as kind of a collector of just not one to tinker its a done machine .

Some one did me a favor and hit my Pro and totaled the truck . I'm now in the Trail Premium with KDSS and like is better than the Pro .

I can allways add the suspension of my choosing down the road .

Bought my (ex) wife a pro, it's a very nice vehicle .. I didn't like how the front of the limited looked.

I would go with the pro. all the chrome accents on the limited make it look cheap (in my opinion)

Since it will be her 4Runner...the Pro will stay 100% stock. Maybe some minor cosmetic changes, but overall no true modifications.

Just wondering, did you get custody of the Pro after the divorce was finalized?

All pro 3 link SAS kit, Diamond axle, kings on 37" MTR/K
If you plan on wheeling it, trail/trail premium. If she is just gonna keep it on the street, full time 4wd limited.
I bought my wife a '14 limited 4x4. Scraped the nose a few times trying to do some light wheeling. Traded it in for '16 trail premium. Much happier now.
I would only buy a TRD pro if I plan to never modify it.

King extended travel coilovers, Total chaos UCAs, Gobi roof rack, FN BFD wheels with duratracs.

I do miss the air conditioned seats of the limited tho.
