Saw a couple fix threads on this. Now they sell the latch ($20) without having to purchase the whole console ($250).

    Thought this may help.

Just do the fix. Only costs like $1 in parts rather than $20 for this thing.

I broke mine 4 years ago, and did the fix and it's been fine ever since

Just replaced the latch last night. Took 2 minutes and was worth the $20 to stop having to use a pen spring and finesse it to close!

Question for those that have already made the purchase: are you buying the Dorman version or the Toyota Genuine Part version? Is there a difference in quality? I know the Dorman version retails for about 10 bucks, whereas the dealer has it for about 30 bucks. I wasn't sure which was better, or if they were made by the same manufacturer.

I installed the Dorman version and can't imagine the OEM being much/if at all different. Took 2 mins to replace and seems as good as new.

Mine broke and I lost the spring a week after I bought my truck. The dealership wanted an absurd amount of money for this piece so I took a spring out of a pen and MacGyvered it.....haven't had a problem since!
