The Drone Mobile device is super small like 2"x2" and it sits right next to my Evo One.

To add the Drone I had to reflash to .50. I bought the 3400 found on EBay for $80 new.

Did u have to also buy another cable and reverse two of the wires or could u just plug it directly in?

It comes with the cable. You just swap two wires on the plug end. Doesn't require anything to be cut just push the two pins out and swap the white and blue wires, easy to do.

Well, I just got my Evo One and Drone Mobile install done! I wanna thank Shadowray for all of his help. I asked him a LOT of questions and I'm sure he is sick of me, but thanks anyway!

So, my install had a few hiccups along the way and it acts a little differently than designed, but I'll explain.

First of all, I have a 2017 Tacoma with h key and I initially went with the install instructions from fortin with the jan 26th 2017 revision. However, even though I have a 17, my wiring matched the instructions for the 2016. So after a few calls to fortin, I used the 2016 instructions.

Secondly, part of the instructions call for cutting the tpms wire. I just could not bring myself to do that. So, that's not hooked up.

Lastly, after another call to fortin, I had to change the options selected for the unit using the flash updater. I had to turn all of the A options on as well as the C1 and D2 options since I have an oem security system.

Now, I'll explain how it all works. With the h key, whether vehicle is locked or not, I must select "unlock" then select "lock" four times and it starts. All good! However, the driver's door unlocks after start up. I think if I hook up the tpms wires and cut the wires as seen in the diagram, this will work as intended, meaning the all the doors will lock after start. Again, I just can't bring myself to do it. It will certainly be something I will think about. The Drone also does this after startup.

One other thing is that the key does not even lock or unlock the door after start. The drone does, key does not. Of course I can put it in the lock and unlock manually. But again, if I hook up the tpms properly including cutting the wire, the oem key should unlock door after remote start.

Other than the driver's door unlocking and staying unlocked after remote start, I am pretty happy with how everything works. It took me probably 6 hours in total including all of the testing I did after everything was buttoned back up.

Now, I will play with it during the week while getting ready to come home from work and that may help me decide whether I want to cut the wires.

I hope this helps those of you who are thinking about doing this as well.

    Thanks again, ShadowRay!

Your welcome...I cut the TPMS wire on mine...I figured if anything was wrong I would just solder both ends back together with some shrink wrap but turned out just fine.. love it paired with the Drone Mobile.

After a little more testing, I think that as long as I send a "lock" signal after I start via the drone, the driver's door as well as all others will lock and all is good. As far as the oem key goes, if I'm close enough to start with oem key, I can prob see vehicle anyway so driver's door being unlocked probably won't be a big deal. That'll be my justification for now! ;-)

I have a 2017 TRD Sport Manual and although I followed the 2017 guide I still can't get it to start. When I hold the start button on my compustar remote the dash lights come on and it goes through the motions of the start sequence without actually cranking the starter. I'm going to try using the the 2016 guide to see if changing the Can High and Can Low to the OBD-2 wires will give the Evo One a tachometer reading and make it crank over. It's not sending power to the starter2 wire when Starter1 gets power so I have to make sure that's not stemming from the same issue or the problem itself. Maybe @Shadowray can give me some direction too.

Has anyone successfully installed a Fortin Evo One on a manual Tacoma??

It doesn't have TPMS if that changes anything.

@Pickupman2007 has done it, and he said he would try to post a wiring diagram for us. See this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/remote-start-2017-tacoma.521636/page-2#post-16558797

Have you bypassed the clutch start system? Sounds just like first attempt to remote start. It wasn’t in my instructions but I had to setup a relay to the clutch start to get it working. Try sitting in the truck and holding the clutch down and see if it works. If it does that your problem.

Holding the clutch start cancel button worked! It fired right up.

Next question, is the ground wire you're talking about in the main power connector or on the red bypass relay connector with the TPMS wires?

What kind of relay did you use? Standard 4 pin?

Which pin location/colour of wire did you tapped into on the Clutch Start Cancel button?

    Thanks for all your help!

Starter output wire on the EVO One is in the 20 pin white connector pin A5, I used a 5 pin relay since I had some, but a 4 pin is all you need. Battery power connects to the relay coil and pin 30, then white wire from EVO One pin A5 goes to the other side of the relay coil and relay pin 87 goes to clutch start cancel switch connector C7 pin 4. I have a 2017 Pro manual. Do you guys with this setup and a manual transmission have to do any funny sequence when you park the truck in order for it to remote start?

Yes, the ready mode options are in the Fortin manual. You can setup to manually activate ready mode with the start button on a long range remote or if like me you only have the OEM remote you can change the EVO One to option 33.2 automatic ready mode. With the automatic ready mode you have to park in neutral, apply the hand brake, release the foot brake and exit the vehicle, it will shut off when you close the door.
