I already know I'm going to catch some flak for this purchase like I have from people I know.
    But I don't care.

I've been looking forward to joining the Toyota Tacoma family for a long time. I kayak fish a lot on the coast and have been in need of a fishing trip/work truck the last two years.
This Saturday I sprang for my first Tacoma off of Craigslist for a decent price considering the initial listing.

I purchased some problems along with the truck though which brought the price down.
It has 153000 miles, is in great condition on the interior, the exterior is a heavily faded greyish green rhino line job. It needs a new catalytic converter and two back tires right off the bat. The leave Spring recall was never addressed but the mechanic stated they were in good condition. And lastly, the windshield has a big crack across the front from a highway rock, which actually didn't bother me at all.

I'm looking forward to contributing on here some of the fun I'll be having with this truck once I get it legal and highway ready. In addition to being able to come to you guys with any questions y'all may have already sifted through in the community.

    Listed for 10,100
    After mechanic visit
    Made my purchase at 6500
    Thanks!!

Had to edit some rediculous grammatical errors.

Looks sweet. You should do the grille as well and black out your head and tail lights.

For the price and the few things wrong you have a good project on your hands however you have a good foundation this far..i would just change all fluids first before I did any mods.. then depending on what you are using it for go from there.. I would do suspension tires and wheels and I believe that in itself would drastically change the appearance of her.. excited to see how it all works out for you

Welcome! Sounds like a good deal. I hadn't seen a rino lined vehicle before, painting the front grill black or rino lining would look great.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep some posts coming as I get this project rolling. once I have everything under the hood solid, I'm going to go ahead and see what some rhino shine will do to the liner as far as restoring the grey.

    For now it's
    replace cat con
    Some inspection ready tires
    Windshield
After that I'll be hitting the forum for ideas on getting it the way I want it.

After some months of using my truck for work, I finally got around to sprucing up he exterior with some of the rhino shine I mentioned.
Got the catalytic converter replaced along with a wiring harness that had been chewed through that was setting off the knock snesor. Here are some before and after pics of pressure washing off some of the outer coating of he liner that was flaking and peeling.

Truck was in a bad hail storm years ago and the owner lined the whole thing as a result. I'm pleased with the outcome of the shiner which I ordered for 50$ of eBay

Despite the poor job, I actually think it looks pretty cool. Nice pick up!
