The light for my fan control has burned out. I did some searching on the forum and it looks like I need a bulb called NEO4 (4 mm). I can search Amazon for the bulb (or a TW sponsor if anyone can recommend one), but my question is how difficulty is it to remove the panel? I know the knobs just pull off, but how does the faceplate come off?

    Thanks

I thought there was a write up somewhere, gimme a sec

this is very detailed for taking it out. however you will need to take off the back cover to the HVAC unit to replace the NEO4 bulbs.

Knobs pull right off and the face plate just pops off as well. Theres a couple small tabs holding it on, but I used a small pick inserted through the holes behind the knobs to gently pry it off

    Thanks everyone!

Do you have any pics of the blue dash LEDs? Was that easy to do? I figure if I have to take it apart, maybe try something a little different.

    Is the stock light 'amber'?

Yes stock light gives off an amber color but it's a clear bulb with an orange condom on it! Lol! I changed my whole interior over to blue. Glove box, gear shifter, ash tray, HVAC, instrument cluster etc. I got rid of the Orange cigarette lighter ring

Are the LEDs dimmable for the instrument panel?

Yeah you have to buy an HVAC unit out of a 01,02 4Runner. They have clear backplates. Unlike the Tacomas. And you can't scratch the orange off or this happens. Here is the 4Runner HVAC unit I bought from LKQ for $40. But I've heard they're selling for significantly more. Yes the HVAC bulbs are dimmable.
Here are the bulbs I used for the HVAC area. Neo4mm
