Yeah, below freezing is about my limit. This is all based on commuting for 40+ minutes at 80mph though.

I can do ~20 on the 250 all day long with the same amount of gear.

Well, TPMS in the spare was a bust. I did the 5 wheel option with the TPMS tool but when I went to do the ECU relearn, it had a transfer failure when sending the data.

I guess if I rotate in the spare now like I had planned, I can either relearn the 4 that are the drive wheels or just have the current spare not have active TPMS when it is part of the drive wheels. If/while I have access to a TPMS tool, I guess I can do the relearn but dunno if I'll always have access. Could always go to a shop and pay a couple bucks to relearn when I rotate myself...

if the spare is still on the truck, then it still counts as part of the system. My "spare" is on my front passenger. It is the one with no TMPS. But I have no lights. The one on the swingout is the TMPS one

Yeah that's what I'm saying, is that I could potentially rotate in my spare with no active TPMS, or I could just relearn each time I rotate with the tool, so that my actual spare doesn't have active TPMS, and the four drive tires do. With that said I don't really rely on my TPMS for pressure so it's not a big deal if I don't relearn the system each time if I end up doing it that way

Coolant and wiper fluid topped. Need to go in for my last "free" service at Toyota in a thousand miles (45K). After that, should be taking care of all maintenance myself.

Not sure why my coolant was so low since it's a closed system though. Haven't noticed any leaks. :notsure:

Its a mixed fluid. Meaning it has water in it. Water evaporates. The water in the coolant in that over flow tank has simply been evaporating. Nothing to be concerned about.

So even though the stealership told me my 45K service would be covered under the pre-paid agreement my father got when we bought the truck, once I got there, it was a no-go. The Platinum VSA is supposed to cover breakdowns and after-the-fact maintenance but the service advisor I talked to a week or two ago told me the service was also going to be covered.

After I said "well, what would I pay if I actually have you guys do the service anyway?", this service advisor told me $106 to do an oil change and rotation. Yes, you heard that correctly, one hundred and six dollars for oil change and rotation. I told him to pound sand and I left. So I'm just going to use my boss's commercial account at work (he runs a side business also working on cars and has a customer commercial account at our shop) and use my own supplies. Which means I will actually be getting paid to work on my own truck

    I'll be doing:

    --- Brake Condition Check (45,000)
    --- Exterior Lights Check (45,000)
    --- Fluids Check (45,000)
    --- Lubricate Driveshaft (45,000)
    --- Oil / Filter Change (45,000)
--- Tire Rotation (Spare Included) (45,000)
    --- Tire PSI Check (45,000)
    --- Wiper Blades Check (45,000)
--- Replace Cabin Air Filter (45,000)

Have you checked prices at quick change places lately? I have to take my car to get it serviced and just a regular oil change is $80, if you get a tire rotation it quickly surpasses the $125 mark. This kind of stuff is getting stoopid expensive.

I work at a car shop, I will be doing it myself for cost of supplies plus $15 for the service on the shop ticket.

We charge ~$40 for conventional change, closer to $60 for synthetic, at my shop

now I dont feel as bad when I spend $40 on oil and do it myself. I thought it was the same as the dealer, and why I am doing it myself..

My dealership charges $46 for a synthetic change on the wife's T4R. With time factored in I couldn't beat that price if I tried.

That is a hell of a price actually. I'll be spending probably $35-45 for the oil and filter, then another $15-20 on the cabin filter. Luckily, I'll be getting paid to work on my own vehicle at work since the ticket will be under my shop boss' commercial account :) so should actually only be "spending" a total of ~$55, plus my time to do the oil change, rotation, cabin filter "install".

45K service completed. Slipped my mind to reset TPMS to the four tires on the ground, but I'll do that on Friday at work. Light did not turn on without resetting, just for anyone's reference that may be thinking about putting TPMS in their non-TPMS spare.

The fumoto is awesome, you will love it. If you buy the filters in bulk, you can get the OEM toyota ones in a case of 10 for about $4 each (approx $40 per case). For the cabin filters, I just use the el cheapos that run a few bucks each on Amazon. I buy a few of those at a time.
Must be nice having that lift, that would be sweet.

Yeah I probably went a little overbord with the synthetic (since I still plan on 5K oil changes) and the top of the line Purolator Filter (the PBL's are designed to last 15K) but I was curious if I would notice a difference in how the truck runs (doubtful) so I decided to spend a bit more for this go around. I'll probably buy the OEM filters in bulk like you after these.

I'm excited for the Fumoto too, should be nice, especially if I don't work at the shop anymore and don't use the lift at the firehouse. Do you have the little black safety clip on yours? I put it on but I realized it clips on facing up, which means gravity is not really helping it stay on. I'm going to periodically check the clip, valve, and drain hole for any leaks over the next month or so and make sure I tightened it enough/too much. I did hand tight, then another 1/4 turn with a wrench like everyone recommended online. Let me tell you, it was a real PITA to stick a wrench up and tighten with the skids on there. I had to put the wrench on, then stick my channel locks in from the side to tighten the wrench since there's no space.

I have the clip on mine, and have been through crap at Rausch and other places, and havent lost it. I also have a rubber nipple cover thingy on the fumoto. I have an extra one that you can have. Swing by anytime and get it

The clips and nipple covers didn't exist when I bought mine. I am thinking of purchasing another one for another car and may add a clip. I think they are only a buck or two on their site. Matt if I were you I would still stick to synthetic. I buy the cases at costco when they are on sale, Mobil1 5w30, and after the discount they are about $26 for 6 quarts. Well worth it for me. I also change at 5k.
