Morning folks! Call me an idiot but...I'm gonna ask anyways.

What's the benefit of a solid axle over IFS? When I was talking to my dad about some of the SAS tacomas that I've seen his response was. "Why are they swapping IFS for a SA? Hell back in the day we went away from SA because of clearance issues. The front pumpkin was always getting beat up on rocks and causing clearance issues"

Obviously there's a benefit but I'm not sure what that is.

the clearance is the same for IFS as SAS but SAS is stronger and you get more flex out of it . you gain clearance with tire size on any lift.
my front IFS diff is 1" lower then eddys SAS diff

But wouldn't that be due to tire size? 35's compared to 42's? Or is that measuring from a common point on the truck?

you mearsure from the hoghead on the diff to the ground .with IFS you can gain some diff hight from lift but only about 2". with SAS all your diff hight is from tires. but also bigger the hoghead less hight you get

Moar flex. Keeping your tires on the ground for traction. Stronger parts. Either sas or ifs it's best to put your tires on the two biggest rocks or whatever your climbing. I've only hit my diff once and ram guard once
