Usually it happens when I am driving in a parking lot or something along those lines.

When I let off the gas I hear a quick click from the engine. Is it normal

Haven't heard that one yet. Lately my truck has really been surging in idle a lot. My wife asked me why I was driving like a crazy person backing out of a parking spot yesterday. I told her I barely took my foot off the brake

Mine does the same thing before it's fully warmed up,it lunges forward with my foot on the brake. Just took the Toyota survey.

Mine was at operating temp. We just stopped at the supermarket on the way home.

EDIT: So how did the survey go?

Funny thing I've noticed about the many Toyota's my family has owned, they all have weird issues, but run forever.

Toyota told my sister that her 05' Rav4 needed a new trans, front diff, rear CV's, ABS pump and module and that was 100k miles ago. Dash is lit like a Christmas tree, but it starts right up and runs fine.

Survey took a while but was able to mention these issues. I do not think there will be any feedback. This is my first Toyota, thought they would be perfect but have to say it's growing on me.

Is it a consistent "ticking sound"? I Haven't noticed a single click at all, but the truck definitely has some quirks to get used to: surge idle, dash rubbing, squeaky leaf springs. My theory is that most people will notice these sounds if they are coming from a relatively quiet vehicle. The Tacoma is just simply not a quiet vehicle. Coming from a well built GX470 I feel like I can hear everything.
