Recently the gear selector was getting stiff to move at times and then would go away. Then transmission range sensor circuit malfunction - Error code - P0705 popped up after turning on the dash light and the check engine light. Does anyone know exactly where this transmission range sensor is actually located in the truck? I cannot find it on the exterior line to the trans. so I am guessing it is either in the trans or somewhere in the interior of the cab of the truck. Any help appreciated!

Hi there folks, I find myself in a similar predicament... Though a little more complicated. My check engine light came on whilst towing for the first time with my second hand 07 sport, the tow wiring harness was pooched so is brand new on the old wires, but home installed, I am getting the R for reverse gear in dash lighting consistently lit whilst applying brakes and flashing when indicating either side... seems to be a wiring issue with the home installed harness...maybe???... kept towing to try to get home... BUT!!!!.... then 2.5 hrs into towing trip, check engine light came on (only as i started the vehicle after stopping to refuel). I have the Diagnosis computer. It's the transmission range sensor circuit. Do you think these two issues are connected??
I am trying to trouble shoot with little experience; I have spoken to multiple mechanics for quick questions. Everyone seems to think it isn't a huge issue and both are completely unrelated. I towed a further 3.5 hrs home(slowly and the following day) no issues by way of feel in the vehicle, went over a high mountain pass with no issues . Alert and strange dash lights remained the same. Any advice for when I try to tackle this at home?? Perhaps a good starting point for one of the issues would be so much appreciated please.

Here is the indicator circuit for the Park Neutral Safety Switch:

I don't see a tie into the transmission park neutral switch and the Tail/Brake or Turn Signals. What I would start by doing is remove the Homemade wiring job and then see where it goes from there.

Post the results and we can see where we can go from here. By towing connector harness I am assuming you mean the round plug in and not the flat harness type.

    Thanks so much Jimmy!!

I appreciate this info very much. I opened up the wiring harness and the Reverse had been put into the Ground. Which absolutely explains the issue with the lights. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier. I switched the two wires and everything works as it should.
As far as the check engine light, it has since disappeared and not returned, maybe the two were some how linked. All is good again though.

    Thanks again, legendary!
