That probably would've helped. Grill is so easy to take off, I don't know why I thought I was saving time by not removing it. Oh well, it's on!

Was it easy to install? I'm thinking about getting one.

Do you guys recommend the fog light hoops? I'm not sure if there is a use for it?

I think it looks better with the hoops.

I like this bumper guard. Much nicer than a bull bar and unless you plan on installing a winch the steel bumpers are a significant modification to the front end and your wallet. I'm wondering:

    1. Anyone matched the paint color to their truck? DIY paint or shop?
    2. It looks like from the pictures I see here that there is not a horizontal bar behind the sheet metal piece along the bottom, correct? It seems like there could/should be one for added armor.
    3. Fog light hoops, I'm not sure I would go for them. Either way a great look.
    4. I see the cut out in the lower panel can be modified to "TRD" vs "AVID". Is that a request when you order?

    Nice product and great pictures!

    Thanks

I haven't seen that yet honestly.

No there is not and it really is a strong piece made from 11ga steel. But everything has its limits in the right scenario.

Thats why we make both :)

Custom order, we can add it.

    Nice product and great pictures!

Thank you, and thanks to the customers.

Thanks for the reply and info. Yes 11GA is plenty thick to take a hit.

    --------------------------------------------------

    Hello all,
My new bumper guard from AVID Off Road is in transit from AZ to me up in the Redwood region of Nor-Cal for powder coating and install. Quite excited about it. Build is w/o either the fog hoops or the light bar mounting. I value the opinions of the builder to offer the various design options. The stock front end of these trucks isn't what you might consider 'stout'.... already had to snap the thing back into place after a light bump with a tree stump up in the hills. Hence, I was more than happy to find a product like this.... light, yet protective of the inevitable front end contacts, whether it be off road, or the occasional driver who doesn't know how to park. After I get the project finished, I'll post a few pics here.
My thoughts on AVID vs TRD in the plate? I've already got enough TRD labels on the truck. Personally, I'm more than happy to advertise someone who makes a good product, and makes ME look good. So, my return to the guys who designed and are building these for us? ? Spread the word: AVID (Off Road).
    -Chip

AVID brush/bumper guard w/o hoops or light bar mods.
The project took me maybe an hour, though actually longer
cuz I tinker, and ponder and contemplate, and...

Now then, for those who can install this guard without
removing the grill and radiator wind vanes... well, I can't
imagine doing that. This is the first time I've ever
disassembled the grill assembly and its SO easy.
Anyway, here are a few of my pics.

You have to do any trimming? I've been looking on a how to video on installing one. I'll be getting one in a couple more months.

Only trimming necessary is two pieces about 1.5"x3" to let the supports get behind the plastic wheel fender pieces.

I don't have pics of the trimmed area, but I did post my installation of it on my build thread.
